SharesPost Pays Fines To SEC
SharesPost, the online marketplace for private company stock, along with CEO Greg Brogger, are paying fines in the firm's trading of private company shares, the SEC said Wednesday. According to a release from the SEC, SharesPost is paying $80,000, and Brogger is paying $20,000 in fines, as part of an SEC order which found that SharesPost and Brogger violated Section 15(a) of the Exchange Act of 1934. ID Analytics Acquired By LifeLock
San Diego-based ID Analytics, the developer of risk and identification management services, which is venture backed by Canaan Partners, Investor Growth Capital, Mission Ventures, and Trinity Ventures, has been acquired by LifeLock, the firms said today. Exact financial deals of the acquisition were not announced, however, LifeLock said it has raised over $100M in new, preferred equity in order to complete the acquisition. Siemer & Associates Launches Singapore Incubator
Los Angeles-based Siemer & Associates, and its affiliated venture capital fund, Siemer Ventures, said today that it has launched a new, technology incubator--in the country of Singapore. The investment banking firm, which is headed by David Siemer, said that the new WaveMaker Labs is being formed under the Technology Incubation Scheme (TIS) of the Singaporean government's National Research Foundation (NRF). Slacker Offers Free NCAA Streaming Radio
The deal between streaming music service Slacker and ESPN, which the two brokered in September last year, is about to go into overdrive this week, as Slacker said it will provide free, streaming radio access to all 67 games of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship via its service. Goldstar Launches In Miami
Los Angeles-based discount event ticketing service Goldstar has expanded its services into Miami, Florida, the firm told its subscribers today, as the firm continues to grow the number of cities covered by its services. Diverse Solutions' New Employee Perk: Skiing
Irvine-based Diverse Solutions, the developer of products to help real estate agents market their businesses and websites, which was acquired by Zillow last November, have gained a fun new employee perk from their acquisition: an annual "Ski Day". Zillow posted pictures from the Irvine group at Big Bear Lake this morning, as part of a push to recruit employees at the company. Broadcom Funds Entry In Google Lunar X Prize
Irvine-based Broadcom reported this morning that it is contributing $100,000 in a donation to an Israeli team looking to win Google's $30M Lunar X Prize contest. Broadcom said it is donating the money to the Israeli group SpaceIL for its efforts. The donation will go towards the Weizmann Institute of Science to help support its efforts with SpaceIL. SpaceX Signs Two Launch Agreements
Hawthorne-based Space Exploration Technologies, the commercial rocketship firm headed by Elon Musk, reported Tuesday afternoon that it has signed two contracts to launch satellites into space on its Falcon 9 rocket. SpaceX said that it has signed contracts with Asia Broadcast Satellite (ABS) and Satelites Mexicanos (Satmex), which are scheduled to launch from Cape Caneveral in two separate launches. Cricket In 4G LTE Deal With Clearwire
San Diego-based prepaid wireless service provider Cricket, is turning to 4G wireless provider Clearwire for its next general, 4G LTE network. The companies announced this morning that they are in a five-year., wholesale agreement where Cricket will be able to tap into Clearwire's new LTE network. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Vangard Voice Ties On Warehouse Management Software
Irvine-based Vangard Voice Systems, the developer of voice recognition and voice enablement software, said this morning that it has tied with a provider of warehouse management systems, BellHawk Systems Corporation, to voice-enable a product for the warehouse, manufacturing, and supply chain sector. ESET Launches Nonprofit Foundation
San Diego-based security software firm ESET reports today that it has launched its own, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, the ESET Foundation, to help support an effort by the firm to increase cybersecurity awareness and education. KYTHERA Biopharmaceuticals Names Chief Commercial Officer
Los Angeles-based KYTHERA Biopharmaceuticals, which develops aesthetic medicine products, said this morning that it has named Elisabeth Sandoval as its Chief Commercial OFficer. Sandoval was previously at Bausch + Lomb Surgical, and also has served at Allergan Medical and Jonson & Johnson. KYTHERA Biopharmaceuticals' lead product is a compound for the reduction of under-the-chin fat.
