Disney Links With Japanese Social Games Firm DeNA
The Walt Disney Company has inked a deal with Japanese mobile and social gaming developer DeNA, to deliver social games to players worldwide, the two said Friday. According to the two, they have launched their first, jointly developed social game, Disney Party, in japan, and will be launching a second title, Disney Fantasy Quest in April, with a third title based on Marvel Comics characters launching this summer in Japan. TrueCar Bolsters Dealer Outreach With New VP
Santa Monica-based TrueCar said Friday that it has hired a new Vice President, Dealer Development, to bolster its efforts to retain and grow its network of dealer partners. The firm said it has hired Ken Potter, most recently VP and General Manager at Automotive for Internet Brands, to the new position. Potter was responsible for Internet Brands' CarsDirect.com site, and served at the firm for 11 years. Potter also has served as General Manager of two car dealerships, including CarMax. Soraa Ships Outdoor LED Product
Soraa, the UC Santa Barbara spinout whic is backed by Khosla Ventures, New Enterprise Associates, and NGEN Partners, said today that it has launched its first, outdoor LED lamp product, which it says patches the performance of a 40W halogon MR16 lamp. The firm--which is commercializing solid state lighting technology based on gallium nitride fabrication technology--said the lamp is its first for use in outdoor and enclosed fixture. MRV Sells CES Creative Electronic Systems SA
Chatsworth-based MRV Communications said today that it has completed the sale of its CES Creative Electronics Systems SA subsidiary, to a group of European private equity firms led by Vinci Capital SA. The firm said that the deal was worth $28.4M. MRV said the sale will help it to focus on its core business of network infrastructure equipment and network management products. MRV was advised by Headwaters MB in the sale.

Telogis Buys Maptuit
Aliso Viejo-based Telogis, the provider of telematics products, said late THursday that it has acquired the assets of Maptuit, a provider of connected navigation products for the commercial fleet market. Financial terms of the buy were not announced. Telogis said the acquisition is its fifth in the last three years, and will help expand its services. Genalyte Raises $11.8M
San Diego-based Genalyte, a developer of life sciences equipment which uses silicon chips for protein and nucleic acid testing. said this morning that it has raised $11.8M in a Series B financing round. The round came from Redmile Group, Claremont Creek Ventures, as well as earlier investors in the firm. The company said the new funding will go towards commercialization of its platform, which it is targeting at autoimmune and immunoassay applications. Genalyte's CEO and founder is Cary Gunn.

Santa Monica-based Lifecrowd, the online site which helps people find local, social activities which is headed by Bong Koh, said this week that it has hired former Google business product manager Jacquie Phillips as Co-founder and Head of Product at the company. Phillips had served as a product manager for Google Offers and Boutiques.com. She also has previously served at Like.com and Private Road Productions.
