Postcard on the Run Links With Hotel Group
Los Angeles-based Postcard on the Run, the mobile app startup which allows users to take a photo on their smartphone and turn that into a real, physical postcard, has inked a partnership with a hotel and resort operator. According to the Viceroy Hotel Group, which operates hotels and resorts in Abu Dhabi, Anguilla, Beverly Hills, Miami, New York, Palm Springs, Riviera Maya, Santa Monica, Snowmass, St. Lucia and Zihuatanejo, it has linked with PostCard on the Run to offer up the service via the h (More info...)

WePlay Launches Mobile App
Santa Monica-based Weplay, a startup backed by Peyton Manning, Major League Baseball, Derek Jeter and Lebron James, said today that it has launched a mobile app to help youth sports players keep informed on allergy conditions. Gaikai Delivers Console Games Via Facebook App
Streaming, cloud-based game service provider Gaikai has linked up its service to Facebook, the firm said Wednesday, launching a beta of a Facebook app which allows users to play console-quality games directly from the social networking site. The firm said its app is aimed at allowing video game publishers to reach millions of potential new players on the social networking site. Punchcard Launches Business Analytics Product
Pasadena-based Punchcard, the Idealab startup developing mobile apps to encourage customer loyalty at retail businesses, announced today that it has launched a new product, Punchcard for Business. SpaceX Plans Launch Site In Texas
Hawthorne-based SpaceX is gearing up to set up a launch site in Cameron County, Texas, according to a report from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). In a release to the public, the FAA said that SpaceX is developing an environmental impact statement and public meetings to discuss the plan. Techtonic Games Names CEO
Santa Barbara-based Techtonic Games, a developer of mobile, tablet, and browser-based games, said Tuesday that it has named Scott Miller as the firm's new CEO. Miller was previously CEO of Snail Games USA, and also was founder and COO of MojoBaby. Techtonic Games said it was founded in May of 2011 by Peter and Leif Dahl. The firm's first title is Bust-N-Rush, an action game which currently runs on PCs and Macs.

Citrix Online Acquires Podio
The Santa Barbara-based online services arm of Citrix is expanding its suite of software, after Citrix said this morning that it is acquiring Podio, a developer of collaborative work software for business teams. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed by the companies. Citrix said it will use Podio to bolster its GoTo line of cloud services. Esri Launches ArcGIS App On Kindle Fire
Redlands-based Esri, the developer of geographical information system (GIS) mapping software, released a new version of its software for the Amazon Kindle Fire tablet and other Android devices. According to Esri, its ArcGIS for Android allows users to access and edit Esri maps on the mobile devices. The new app is free, but requires users also have an ArcGIS system. WD Ships Mobile Hard Drive
Irvine-based Western Digital said this morning that it has shipped a new, 7mm, 2.5-inch mobile hard drive, aimed at the notebook and Ultrabook market. The firm said its new WD Scorpio Blue drive is only 7mm in height, ideal for the thin and light notebook market. The new drive is available in 500GB and 320GB capacities, and costs $79.99 for the 320GB version, and $99.99 for the 500GB version.
