Boingo In Deal With Deutsche Telekom For In-Flight Wi-Fi
Are you a Boingo customer, planning a long flight to Germany anytime soon? Wish you could keep connected to the Internet? Customers of Los Angeles-based Boingo Wireless can now do that--and bill it to their Boingo account--if they're booked on Lufthansa. Boingo said Tueday that it has inked a deal with Deutsche Telecom, which will give Boingo customers access to in-flight Wi-Fi services on international flights through DT's on-board communications services. RingRevenue In Growth Surge
Santa Barbara-based RingRevenue, the provider of pay-per-call technology used by affiliate marketers to track conversions, looks to be in growth mode, with the firm nearly doubling its staff over the last four months. The firm, which is led by Jason Spievak, apparently now has 28 full time employees, up significantly from only 16 in January, according to Spievak. YouMail's New Calling Feature: Voicemail Receipts
Ever wonder if someone actually got your voicemail? Irvine-based YouMail has a neat new feature to provide "voicemail receipts" to callers who leave you a message on the voicemail service, allowing callers to get a text, view and hear the message they left, and also add themselves to your caller ID list. Paul Bricault Backs Phone Security Firm
Paul Bricault, the head of local Los Angeles business accelerator Amplify, is one of the backers of a phone security firm which is looking to reduce phone-based fraud. According to Atlanta-based Pindrop Security, it raised $1M in a seed funding round from Andreessen Horowitz, GRA Venture Fund, New World Ventures, Sigma Partners, and Webb Investment Network, along with angels Paul Bricault, Kevin Donahue, and Ben Ling. EcoATM Raises $17M
San Diego-based EcoATM, the developer of kiosks to help people trade in their old mobile phones and devices for cash, store credit, or gift cards, has raised $17M in a Series B funding round. The round came from Coinstar, PI Holdings, Moore Venture Partners, AKS Capital, Koh Boon Hwee, along with Claremont Creek Ventures and TAO Ventures. The new round brings the company's total raised to $31.40M.

Ortiva Wireless Acquired By Allot Communications
La Jolla-based Ortiva Wireless, a developer of wireless video optimization and streaming hardware and software, has been acquired by Allot Communications Ltd., a provider of products for the fixed and mobile data network market, Allot announced this morning. Goodreads Enhances Groups

Acacia Targets Digital Imaging With Patent Buy
Newport Beach-based Acacia Research, the patent licensing outfit which acquires and aggressively licenses patents, is eyeing the digital imaging market, saying this morning that one of its subsidiaries has acquired a number of patents originally issued to Polaroid. The firm said those patents cover digital imaging and related technologies, used in digital cameras and camera phones. Novatel Wireless Wins Scandinavian GPS Tracking Firm
San Diego-based Novatel Wireless, which develops wireless modules used to connect equipment into mobile data networks, announced a win today with Scandanavian GPS tracking and vehicle management firm Tripple Track. Financial terms of the win were not announced. Novatel Wireless said it will provide its Enfora asset tags and mobile dtracking devices to Tripple Track. Novatel's products are used in the M2M market for tracking assets via wireless networks.
