GumGum Expands To Canada In First International Deal
GumGum, the provider of in-image advertising services which is backed by GRP Partners, First Round Capital, New Enterprise Associates and Crosscut Ventures, has signed a deal with a Canadian firm, in its first deal out of the country, according to the company Wednesday. GumGum, which is run by Ophir Tanz, said the deal with Oboxmedia will bring its in-image ads to more 40 websites in the online entertainment area targeted at Canadians. FindTheBest Partners With Lijit
Santa Barbara-based FindTheBest, the online comparisons site headed by former DoubleClick founder Kevin O'Conner, has inked another distribution deal, this time with ad network and widget provider Lijit. According to Lijit, which is part of Federated Media, it has linked with FindTheBest to provide customizable widgets and Wordpress plugins which allows blogs and other sites to embed comparisons of different products within those sites. MomentFeed Integrates Instagram
Santa Monica-based MomentFeed, the developer of location analytics software for companies, said today that it has integrated with the popular photo sharing and social networking app Instagram. TeleSign Powers Intel Security Effort
Los Angeles-based TeleSign, the provider of telephone-based, two-factor authentication services being used by major Internet services providers, has signed on another big customer today, Intel. Adconion Rolls Joost Into Smartclip
Adconion Media Group, the online advertising network which has major operations in Los Angeles, said this morning that it has rebranded Joost Media into a its smartclip video advertising division. Smartclip, which Adconion acquired in November of last year, is a European digital video advertising provider. Altra Biofuels Spinout Gets $30M More
EdenIQ, the spinout of San Diego-based Altra Biofuels, the developer of biofuels processing technology, has scored $30M in new venture capital funding, the company said today. Sonos In Deal With Chinese Cloud Music Provider
Santa Barbara-based Sonos, the maker of the popular, user-friendly multi room music systems, has connected its devices into another cloud music provider--this time, in China. Goodreads Catalogs 300 Million Books
Los Angeles-based book social networking and sharing site Goodreads, which is headed by Otis Chandler, reported today that it has cataloged its 300 millionth book on the site, as usage of the site continues to grow. Instacanvas Launches Online Instagram Art Marketplace

Demand Media Raises 2012 Guidance On Registrar Growth
Santa Monica-based Demand Media, the online publishing business run by Richard Rosenblatt, announced its first quarter 2012 results yesterday, and also raised its fiscal 2012 financial guidance. The firm said it had total revenues of $86.2M, an increase of 8 percent from the similar quarter last year.
