VC IN THE OC 2012 - May 15th
OCTANe will host the largest gathering of VCs in Orange
County this year on May 15, at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach. Over
45 VCs and investors will attend and participate in discussions focused on incubators, M&A, private investors, and much more.

John Balen of Caanan Partners, which recently closed a $600 million fund,
will give the VC Keynote with a “View from the Valley”
and top investment trends. Ted Schilowitz of RED Digital Cinema – the
maker of ultra high-resolution digital movie cameras used in virtually all major motion pictures – will deliver the OC Innovation keynote.

Attendees will also have access to six panel discussions, VC Speed-
dating, 14 investment presentations, a showcase of 100 innovative OC
companies, and top-tier networking with Southern California executives.

eSolar In Deal With Sanmina-SCI
Burbank-based utility-scale, solar power developer eSolar is looking to electronics contract manufacturer Sanmina SCI to optimize its component design and manufacturing, the two announced Monday. According to the two, Sanmina-SCI will work on optimizing eSolar's solar collector system product offering, making those devices easier to manufacture and scale, as well as to reduce costs. SpotlightTMS Signs Denver Broncos
Calabasas-based SpotlightTMS, the developer of software-as-a-service used by executive suite holders at sporting venues with managing their tickets, is continuing to expand its partner list, saying today that it has linked with the Denver Broncos. Ross Levinsohn Takes Charge At Yahoo
A familiar face in Southern California's technology industry reappeared in a high profile position this weekend: Ross Levinsohn, the former head of Fox Interactive Media and venture capitalist at Fuse Capital, has taken the reins at troubled Internet portal Yahoo, after the company decided to replace CEO Scott Thompson. Mefeedia Launches Kids Video App For Android Tablet
Burbank-based Mefeedia, the online video discovery site headed by Frank Sinton, has launched a new app for Android Tablets, focused on kids videos. The app, Kid Videos, provides appropriate videos for kids from a wide range of video sites, including YouTube, DailyMotion, and Vimeo. The free app is also available for the iPad and Amazon Kindle Fire.

Cornerstone OnDemand, ADP In Reseller Deal
Santa Monica-based Cornerstone OnDemand, the developer of human resources and talent management software-as-a-service, along with payroll services firm ADP, said today that the two have extended a software reseller relationship. DTS In Deal With Lenovo
Calabasas-based surround sound and audio processing technology provider DTS announced this morning that computer and electronics maker Lenovo is using its technology in a line of smart televisions. DTS said that Lenovo has integrated its DTS audio into its K91 smart TV, a smart TV using the Android operating system being deployed in China. Financial impact of the win was not disclosed.

UCSB Gets $50M From Oracle Chairman For Energy Efficiency Institute
The UC Santa Barbara has received a big boost to the firm's technology programs with a $50M gift from the Chairman of Oracle and his wife, Jeff and Judy Henley. Jeff Henley, who is a UCSB graduate, is currently Chairman of the Board of Oracle, and served as Chief Financial Officer of the company from 1991 to 2004. UCSB said that $30M of the funds will go towards Henley Hall, for UCSB's Institute for Energy Efficiency (IEE), with the remaining $20M going to support the school's College of Engine (More info...)
