Demand Media: No Competition For Sixteen New TLDs
Santa Monica-based Demand Media reported Wednesday that it is the only applicant for sixteen of the 26 new generic, Top Level Domain (gTLDs) it applied for from ICANN. ICANN released its list of all the bids for the new, top level domains Wednesday. Demand Media said the gTLDs it applied for where no one else had applied are .actor, .airforce, .army, .dance, .democrat, .engineer, .gives, .immobilien, .kaufen, .moda, .navy, .ninja, .pub, .rehab, .republican, and .social. OptionEase In Strategic Partnership
Mission Viejo-based OptionEase, the developer of stock option tracking and accounting software-as-a-service, reported Wednesday that it has inked a strategic alliance with a provider of equity compensation plans administation, AST Equity Plan Solutions. Financial impact of the deal were not disclosed. OptionEase is headed by Kim Kovacs, and is venture backed by GADS Option Fund, Miramar Venture Partners, Pasadena Angels and the Tech Coast Angels.

Tealium Wins News International
San Diego-based Tealium, the developer of enterprise tag management software, announced today that it has been selected by News International, the UK publishing division of News Corporation for its online media network. Tealium said its product will be used to manage page tags on publications such as the The Sun, The Times and The Sunday Times. Look.io Acquired By LivePerson
Santa Monica-based Look.io, a startup out of the Amplify accelerator which developed mobile chat applications which could be plugged into any mobile app, has been acquired by LivePerson. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. LivePerson said the deal will add plug-and-play mobile engagement capabilities to its platform, making it easier for businesses to connect with their customers on mobile devices. Look.io was co-founded by Grant Miller and Marc Campbell.

Media Temple Names COO, CTO
Los Angeles-based web hosting and cloud services firm Media Temple has tapped two technology vets as President and COO, and Chief Technology Officer, the company announced this morning. The firm said it has named Russell P. Reeder as its President and COO, and Albert Lopez as CTO. Reeder--who is well known to Southern California's tech industry--was most recently at LibreDigital, and had founded Rightsline, in addition to serving at such firms as NXTV and Oracle. MGM Licenses Content To Amazon
MGM Studios is licensing its library of classic movie and television shows to Amazon.com, as part of Amazon's Prime Instant Video service, Amazon said today. Financial details of the deal, and exact titles covered by the license, were not announced by the companies. Amazon provides streaming of movies and television shows as a bundled part of its Amazon Prime service, which provides free two-day shipping on products from the firm, in addition to the video streaming. Activision Ties With Flurry
Santa Monica-based Activision, via its subsidiary Activision Publishing, said today that it is in a strategic relationship with Flurry, a provider of mobile application, advertising, and analytics software. According to Activision, Flurry will help the firm to establish a new mobile publishing initiative. OneRoof Energy Names Marketing VP
San Diego-based solar lease provider OneRoof Energy said yesterday that it has named Nick Hofer as its Vice President of Marketing. The company, which is backed by more than $55M in financing from Black Coral Capital, said that Hofer was most recently at Zeta Interactive, a digital marketing agency. OneRoof focuses on providing solar leases to the residential market.

Amgen Completes Mustafa Nevzat Pharmaceuticals Acquisition
Thousand Oaks-based biopharmaceuticals firm Amgen said Tuesday afternoon that it has completed its acquisition of Turkish biopharma Mustafa Nevzat Pharmaceuticals. The acquisition, which had originally been announced on April 25th, was worth $700M in cash. Amgen said the buy will "significantly expand" its presence in Turkey and the surrounding region.
