Factual Adds Neighborhood Data
Los Angeles-based cloud data provider Factual, which is run by Gil Elbaz, has expanded outs its data set, saying Tuesday that it has tagged fourteen million of its Factual places with neighborhood data. Factual said that the data adds specific neighborhood information to details on places retrieved from its database, which is used by mobile app developers, web programmers, and others to retrieve information about nearby businesses and locations. StockTwits In Major Redesign
San Diego-based StockTwits, the online stock discussion and micro messaging site run by Howard Lindzon, said Tuesday that it has launched a new site, adding a number of major features to the service. Big Frame Lands $3M
Hollywood-based Big Frame, a new startup focused on providing content programming and marketing of YouTube talent, has raised $3M in a funding round, the firm said Tuesday. EdgeCast Integrates Google PageSpeed Into Services
Customers of Los Angeles-based content delivery network provider EdgeCast are set to automatically have their content delivered faster today, after EdgeCast announced it had integrated Google PageSpeed, Google's page optimization algorithms, directly into its service. EdgeCast said it worked with Google for more than a year to allow customers to automatically apply "best practice" optimization of their web pages on-the-fly. Leads360 Snags CTO From LiveOffice
Los Angeles-based Leads360, which develops sales automation software, said this morning that it has named Mark DuVall as its Chief Technology Officer. DuVall joins the company from LiveOffice, which was recently acquired by Symantec. DuVall also has served at such firms as TRW, and has more than 29 years of experience in the industry. Leads360 develops software which is used to help manage sales leads for companies.

AirHop Wins Deal With TI
San Diego-based AirHop, the developer of software focused on small cell communications networks, has scored a deal with Texas Instruments, to incorporate its products into TI's small cell, System-on-a-Chip (SoC) products. The two companies aid that they are collaborating to integrate AirHope's eSON, advanced self-organizating network (SON) software on TI's KeyStone-based SoCs. HipGeo, Rough Guides Launch Travel App
Fullerton-based mobile app developer HipGeo has tied with Rough Guides, the travel guide publisher, for a set of iPhone and iPad apps, the companies said yesterday. According to the two, the Rough Guide Trip Lens app for the iPad and iPhone is available and free for the app store, allowing users to share their travel adventures, photos, and text. VIZIO Connects Google TV, HDTVs
Irvine-based VIZIO said this morning that it has tapped into Google TV with a new product, which lets users turn any HDTV into a smart television. VIZIO said its new Vizio Co-Star Stream Player uses Google TV to allow users to tap into live and streaming entertainment and the web. The new box connects to a cable or satellite box, and provides access to not only that cable or satellite access but also the Internet and streaming media. Science Inc. Makes First Acquisition, Pinpuff
Science, Inc., the startup business effort run by Mike Jones, the former CEO of MySpace, has made its first acquisition, saying this morning that it has acquired Pinpuff, the developer of a platform which measures the influence of Pinterest users, and awards them with perks. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Pinpuff was developed by a developer in India. Wallaby, Launching Out of Muckerlab, Maximizes Credit Card Awards
Wallaby is launching out of Los Angeles startup accelerator MuckerLab this morning, with an eye on the credit card market. The startup, headed by Green Dot vet Matthew Goldman, has created a new credit card which routes your purchases to your other credit cards, optimizing your accumulation of frequent flyer points, cash, rewards points, or whatever you choose, eliminating the decision of what credit card to use for a transaction. Boingo Wireless Puts Support Behind Hotspot Standards Effort
Los Angeles-based Boingo Wireless, which operates a global network of Wi-Fi hotspots, said it is supporting an industry effort to develop next generation hotspots. Boingo said it is supporting the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) in its advanced Next Generation Hotspot (NGH) trials, scheduled for Q4. CitizenHawk Takes On Social Media Monitoring
Aliso Viejo-based CitizenHawk, the venture backed developer of online brand protection services, said today that it has launched a social media monitoring tool. The firm, which is backed by Maveron, said that its new tool allows companies to monitor what people are saying about them and their brands, on popular social networking sites. Medsphere Names Sales Chief
Carlsbad-based Medsphere Systems, which develops open source, electronic health record (EHR) software, said this morning that it has named Mike Morotti as its Vice President of Sales. Morotti was previously at Validus Medical Systems, and also served at Aspect Medical Systems. Medsphere is venture backed by Azure Capital Partners, EPIC Ventures, Thomas Weisel Partners, and Western Technology Investment.
