TeleSign Raises $29.0M
Los Angeles-based TeleSign, the provider of telephone-based, Internet fraud prevention and authentication services headed by tech vet Steve Jillings, has raised $29.0M in a funding round, according to a regulatory filing from the firm Thursday. No details on the funding have yet been announced by the company. Greg Goldfarb of Summit Partners has joined the company's board as part of the funding, according to the filing, with a total of four investors participating in the round. SpaceX Makes Progress On Manned Spaceflight
Hawthorne-based SpaceX, the commercial spaceflight firm run by Elon Musk, said Thursday that it has completed a design review for a crewed version of its Dragon spacecraft. Active Network Launches Meeting Management Tools
San Diego-based Active Network said this week that it has launched a new tool aimed at meeting planners and travel managers. The firm said the tool helps those users choose destinations for business events, by recommending options based on historical airfare and room rates, carbon emissions, and other factors. Active Network explained that it has partnered with Carson Wagonlit Travel for the technology and database behind the new tool. The new tool is part of its StarCite SM platform. Kurion Opens Facility In Washington
Irvine-based nuclear and hazardous waste management technology firm Kurion said Thursday that it has started construction this week on a new facility in Richland, Washington. The firm said the facility will further develop and demonstrate its systems, which are used for vitrification of waste. Vitrification is the use of glass to isolate and encase nuclear and other hazardous materials.
