At The Pool Matches Users, Interests
A new, Los Angeles startup At The Pool, headed by Alex Capecelatro, has started letting users sign on to the service, helping to match them based on their location, interests, and other information. The startup said its first, public pool, "siliconbeach", is aimed at locals in the Silicon Beach area. Topspin Ties Into Earbits
Los Angeles-based Topspin, the developer of music marketing and merchandising software, has tied its product into online radio platform Earbits, the firm announced Monday. Topspin said that user of Earbits can now see products and offers from Artists via a special tab on Earbits, helping Topspin's clients--artists, labels, and concert promoters--to convert listeners on the radio service into fans and customers. Rubicon Project Goes Mobile
Los Angeles-based Rubicon Project, the online advertising optimization firm headed by Frank Addante, has launched an offering for the mobile advertising market, the company said this morning. Rubicon said its new REVV for Mobile product helps publishers to sell mobile ad inventory, through both direct and indirect sales channels. FreeConferenceCall.com Expands In Finland, Ireland, and Norway
Long Beach-based FreeConferenceCall.com, a provider of free conference calling services, announced today that it has expanded its services to Finland, Ireland, and Norway. The firm--headed by David Erickson--said the expansion will include both free domestic and international conferencing in those countries. The firm already offers its services in another 32 countries, plus the United States.

SmartDrive, DriveCam Settle Patent Lawsuit
Two San Diego technology firms, SmartDrive Systems, and DriveCam, have settled a patent spat between the two companies this morning. According to the two, they have agreed to resolve all outstanding patent litigation and trade secret claims between the two companies. Financial terms of the settlement were not disclosed, however, the two said they have also agreed to cross-license their patents.

Insteegram Mashes Up T-Shirts, Instagram
Are you an Instagram user, and really wished you could print your favorite Instagram photo on a T-shirt? Well, now you can, thanks to Los Angeles startup Insteegram. Insteegram is offering up custom T-shirts made from the photos of Instagram users, printed on an American Apparel t-shirt. The service allows Instagram users to simply log into Instagram and select the photo they'd like to print on a shirt, and have it delivered to them via mail. Tealium Raises $10.5M
San Diego-based Tealium, a developer of tag management software for online marketers, said this morning that it has raised $10.5M in a Series B funding. The firm said the round was led by Battery Ventures, and will go towards funding growth across the company, including product development, plus staffing in marketing, sales, and account management. One Lambda Acquired By Thermo Fisher Scientific For $925M
Canoga Park-based One Lambda, a supplier of tissue typing testing technology, has been acquired by Thermo Fisher Scientific is a deal worth $925M in cash. Thermo Fisher Diagnostic said the purchase price includes a three year retention program and one-year earnout dependent on financial targets. One Lambda is a developer of diagnostic testing kits, used in transplant diagnostics, and is privately held. One Lambda has approximately 320 employees. USC Stevens' Krisztina Holly Departs
The founding Executive Director of the USC Stevens Center for Innovation, Krisztina Holly, is leaving the center to pursue other interests, USC said late Friday. According to the university, Holly decided to leave USC this month to pursue other opportunities for entrepreneurship and innovation. j2 Global Expects Record Quarter
Los Angeles-based j2 Global, the provider of cloud-based voice, FAX, communications, online backup, and other services, said today that it is expecting a record quarter, and is expecting between $88.8M and $89.5M in revenues for its Q2. The publicly held firm said it is expecting to end the quarter with more than $206M in cash and investments. j2 Global is headed by Hemi Zucker.
