SheKnows Bumps Into Largest 50 Web Properties
Online women's publishing site SheKnows has bumped into the 50 largest web properties in the U.S., the site said this week. Citing numbers from th ecomScore July 2012 report, the Los Angeles-based site--which is part of AtomicOnline--said it now has nearly 25 million readers. SheKnows was ranked number 49 on the list; other local companies ranked among the top 50 include Internet Brands (50), Demand Media (16), BUZZMEDIA (38), Disney Online (30), Break Media (31), and MySpace (44).

UsedCardboardBoxes Scores $250K From Chase
Adding to the ways that startups can help fund their ventures, a local, Santa Monica firm, UsedCardboardBoxes.com--which has previously raised funding from Funk Ventures and the Tech Coast Angels--has scored $250,000 in a contest run by credit card issuer Chase and daily deals provider LivingSocial. Sony Online Entertainment Launches User-Generated Content Program
San DIego-based Sony Online Entertainment announced yesterday that it has launched a new program which allows users to create their own, in-game items for its popular EverQuest franchise. Sony said it has launched Player Studio, a new program which allows users to create actual, in-game objects, which can be submitted to Sony for inclusion in the SOE Marketplace. WD Ships New, Ultra-Compact Hard Drives
The latest products out of Irvine disk drive maker Western Digital are a set of two new, ultra-compact hard drives. WD announced its My Passport Edge and My Passport Edge for Mac, the latest portable hard drives in its line, featuring 500GB of storage and a USB 3.0 interface on Thursday. The devices are 3.2 inches long, 4.3 inches wide, and only half an inch high. The new drives start at $109.99.

DataQuick Buys Title Firm
San Diego-based real estate information provider >a href="http://www.dataquick.com">DataQuick said it has acquired a title business, Rels Title. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. ATI Title COmpanies dba Rels Title is currently a subsidiary of Rels Title Services, LLC. The firm said the move would help provide a wider range of title and settlement services to the market.
