Technology, Politics Makes Strange Bedfellows For NationBuilder
What happens when technology startups and the nation's political machine collide? Strange results, it seems--at least for one local Los Angeles startup, NationBuilder. Hulu Plans Presidential Debate Coverage
Online video streaming site Hulu said this afternoon that it will be covering live coverage of tonight's presidential debate, from ABC, Fox and The Wall Street Journal, including both pre- and post-debate content. In addition, Hulu said it will include post-debate coverage from NBC News and the New York Times, and Spanish language content from Azteca America on Hulu Latino. Ahead of Debate, USC Project Uses Twitter To Measure Political Sentiment
A new project out of the University of Southern California is looking to help people visualize public sentiment towards the 2012 United States presidential candidates, by analyzing Twitter. Flinja Launches At DEMO
Flinja, the startup developing an online marketplace for freelance college students and alumni, has launched to the wider world, after graduating from the StartEngine startup accelerator in Los Angeles. The firm showed off its service at the DEMO conference today, saying that its service is now available at both USC and UCLA, and will soon launch at Stanford. Adigami Takes On Digital Marketing Analytics

Lindzon Gets Exit At Lifelock
Prolific San Diego angel investor Howard Lindzon, who runs StockTwits, has scored a big exit at one of his portfolio companies, LifeLock, after the firm had its IPO this morning. Lindzon said it was an early angel investor in the company, and made his investment in 2006 at "well under a $10M valuation". Lindzon said he sold half his shares on SecondMarket in 2010. Mogreet Officially Launches Mobile API Service
Venice-based Mogreet officially announced its new application programming interface (API) services this morning, saying it will provide APIs will let developers deliver MMS, SMS, video, in-app messaging, as well as access mobile user lookup services. Mogreet's new APIs make it much easier for application developers to send MMS services, at a cost of only $0.01 per MMS message sent. ACTV8.me Wins WSOP
Beverly Hills-based ACTV8.me, a developer of mobile, interactive applications for the television and entertainment market, announced today that it has linked with Caesars Interactive Entertainment, to produce an application for the World Series of Poker (WSOP). Qualcomm Technologies Links With Oracle On Java for M2M
San Diego-based Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, said that it has linked with Oracle to bring the popular Java programming language to its machine-to-machine (M2M) chipsets. The two said they are working to bring Oracle Java ME Embedded 3.2 to ATI's QSC6270-Turbo chipset. Those chips are used for M2M applications with embedded cellular capability. ESET Fixes Android Vulnerability
San Diego-based security software provider ESET said today that it has released a new, free app to fix a vulnerability of Android devices. ESET said its new app, ESET USSD Control, removes and prevents a flaw in certain Android-based smartphones, which could potentially wipe all of a user's data. ESET said the flaw is present in certain devices running Android 4.1.x or lower, and makes it possible for criminals to take over a device using a text message or QR code.
