Esri Buys Geoloqi
Redlands-based Esri, the developer of geographical information systems (GIS) software, has acquired startup Geoloqi, which developed a service for geocoding information. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Geoloqi was based in Portland. Esri was founded by Jack and Laura Dangermond, and has quietly become a giant in the geographical information systems (GIS) field, and one of the largest companies in the Inland Empire; the firm now has more than 2,900 employees. AeroVironment Debuts New Home Electric Vehicle Chargers
Monrovia, California-based AeroVironment said Monday that it has rolled out a new home electric vehicle charging station product, the EVSE-RS Plug-In. The developer of EV charging stations (and unmanned aircraft) said its new device plugs into a dedicated, 240 volt outlet, letting users plug in their station anywhere without requiring hard-wiring of the charging station to a home. Rustic Canyon Re-Ups On UrbanSitter
An online marketplace for babysitters, UrbanSitter has just scored new funding Los Angeles-based venture investor Rustic Canyon Partners, as part of a Series A funding, UrbanSitter said this morning. Metacloud Debuts OpenStack Private Cloud Services
Pasadena-based MetaCloud, which provides fully managed, OpenStack-based cloud infrastructure for operating private clouds, launched today at the OpenStack Summit, with the backing of Storm Ventures. MetaCloud is headed by Steve Curry, the former head of Yahoo's global storage operations. DreamHost Launches OpenStack Cloud
Los Angeles-based web hosting provider DreamHost has expanded into the cloud computing services market, saying this morning that it has launched a new OpenStack-based cloud computing platform called DreamCompute. Lettuce Gets $2.1M In Seed Round
Lettuce, a developer of software to help manage order capture, inventory, and accounting for online businesses, has raised $2.1M in a seed funding round. Funding for the Santa Monica company came from Crosscut Ventures, 500 Startups, Launchpad LA, Baroda Ventures, Zelkova Ventures, and Double M Capital. Lettuce is led by Raad Mobrem.

TopFloor Takes $6M For Flash Fashion Sales
Science, Inc., the startup incubator headed by Michael Jones, has debuted another fashion-related startup out of its incubation efforts this morning. Los Angeles-based TopFloor revealed today that it has raised $6M in a funding round, from Polaris Venture Partners, Google Ventures, Crosslink Capital, and Rustic Canyon Partners. Mindspeed Gets Design Win With European Company
Newport Beach-based Mindspeed Technologies has scored a win with a European developer of home gateways. Mindspeed said that Genexis, which develops home gateways for the fiber-to-the-home market, has selected its Comcerto communications processors for its products. Expected shipment volumes and timing were not announced by Mindspeed.

Everbridge Opens Office In The UK
Los Angeles-based Everbridge, the provider of mass notification technology and communications products, said today that it has expanded internationally and opened up a new UK office. The firm said the new office will serve the European, Middle Eastern and African (EMEA) region for the company. Everbridge develops products use for emergency notifications and other similar mass notification applications.

Gores Group Buys Therakos
Los Angeles based private equity firm The Gores Group is acquiring a medical device firm, Therakos, from Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics, the company said this morning. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Therakos is a New Jersey developer of extracorporeal photopheresis (ECP) immune modulation therapy products. The Gores Group said that Therakos develops systems used for treating T-Cell lymphomas and other immune-based diseases.

Fate Therapeutics Names New CEO
San Diego-based Fate Therapeutics announced this morning that it has named Christian Weyer, M.D., M.A.S., as its new President and CEO. Weyer joins the firm from Amylin Pharmaceuticals. Weyer had been serving as SVP Research and Development at Amylin when it was acquired by Bristol-Myers Squibb. Weyer takes oer for William H.
