Givit Updates iOS App
Givit, the video management and sharing service, said today that it has updated its iOS application, adding new features such as ability to select and share videos during live recording; volume controls; anti-shake and video stabilization support on the iPhone 5; and much more. The startup--which is backed by ATA ventures and JK&B Capital--develops social video sharing applications and services. Givit's iPhone app is available for free on the iTunes store.

Vicente Capital Partners Buys Controlling Interest In Intellectual Technology
Los Angeles-based private equity firm Vicente Capital Partners announced Thursday that it has acquired a controlling interest in Intellectual Technology, Inc., a provider of technology and services for motor vehicle departments. Financial details of the buy were not disclosed. Intellectual Technology, Inc. is based in Carlsbad. Vicente Capital said the investment is its seventh of out of its $165M Growth Equity Fund; ITI was represented by Imperial Capital in the deal.

Chromatik Gets $1M To Modernize Sheet Music
Los Angeles-based Chromatik, a developer of iPad applications which replace traditional sheet music for musicians, has raised $1M in a funding round, the firm disclosed today. The funding came from musician Bruno Mars, Jeff Ayeroff of Virgin Records, Dr. Jennifer Snow, along with other angels. Chromatik's iPad apps provide digitized, share-able sheet music. Paragon Software Launches Business Continuity Planning Service
Irvine-based backup and disaster recovery software developer Paragon Software is extending itself into the service market, saying this week that it has launched a new Business Recovery and Continuity (BRC) Planning service. The firm said its extension into services is aimed at helping to design a comprehensive, best practice BC/DR plan for companies following disasters, such as recent super storm Sandy. Pricing on the new services was not announced by the company.

Postcard on the Run Broadens Focus, Forms On The Run Tech
Los Angeles-based Postcard on the Run, the mobile app developer founded by Josh Brooks, is broadening its focus today, saying it has formed a new, parent company called On The Run Tech. The company said the new company will specialize in building mobile apps to let users create customized, physical products from their mobile device. Central Desktop Launches Private Pinterest For Creative Agencies
Los Angeles-based Central Desktop, the provider of cloud-based collaboration tools, is targeting creative agencies with a new product today. The company said it has launched a new online idea board it calls a "Moodboard", as part of its SocialBridge collaboration product. Central Desktop described the new feature a "private Pinterest", allowing team members to post creative ideas and images, comment on those ideas, and more as part of the creative process. A new, Los Angeles startup, Artisan Park, is hoping to help connect artists with customers, by launching an online, name-your-own-price marketplace for art and handcrafted wares. The firm, whose team includes a former SharesPost executive, lets users bid on items posted by artists and artisans, who set a minimum price on their items. Qualcomm Takes On Indoor Positioning Accuracy
San Diego-based Qualcomm said it is taking on the capability of providing precise, indoor positioning with the release of a new platform. The firm said its Qualcomm IZat location platform, being developed by its subsidiary, Qualcomm Atheros, provides precise location for mobile phones, tablets, and network infrastructure, to within 3 to 5 meters inside buildlings. Broadcom Releases Bluetooth Software Into Open Source
Irvine-based Broadcom said it is contributing its Bluetooth software stack into an open source, Android project. According to Broadcom, the software will be included in Android 4.2. Broadcom's Android software stack helps developers create new applications using the Bluetooth wireless standard; the firm said it hopes the contribution will open up development of new Bluetooth applications such as heart rate monitors, 3D glasses, remote controls and sensors.

MeFeedia Debuts New Mobile Discovery Features
Burbank-based Beachfront Media, which operates the online video discovery site MeFeedia, said it has added a number of new discovery features to its mobile website and apps. ServiceNow Prices Follow-On Offering
San Diego-based ServiceNow said Wednesday evening that it has priced its follow-on public offering at $28.00 per share. The firm is offering up 14,000,000 shares of its common stock, with most of those shares being sold by its existing, venture capital backers. ServiceNow went public on the NYSE as NOW back in June.

Urban Remedy Raises $1M From Science Inc.
Urban Remedy, a new startup focused on delivering healthy juices, meal replacements, and snacks to consumers, has raised $1M in a funding round, the firm said today. The startup said the funding came from Santa Monica-based Science Inc., the technology studio run by former MySpace CEO Michael Jones, and also includes a number of angel investors from the beverage industry.
