Eucalyptus Debuts New GUI, Features
Santa Barbara-based Eucalyptus, the cloud management software developer headed by Marten Mickos, released a new version of its software Monday, saying that it has added a number of new features including a new graphical user interface. Tealium Taps Startup Vet Lunsford As New CEO
San Diego-based software developer Tealium, which develops software used to manage Internet "tags" for web developers, said today that it has named Jeff Lunsford as its new CEO. Lunsford, who was already on the company's board, was previously President, CEO, and Chairman of Limelight Networks. He also served as CEO of WebSideStory, in addition to other experience. Greycroft Partners Raises $175M For Third Venture Fund
One of the more active venture capital firms in Los Angeles, Greycroft Partners, said today that it has closed a $175M, third fund, Greycroft III. Black Friday Spending Up In 2012, Hits $1.042 Billion
According to numbers released over the weekend by Internet traffic and e-commerce measurement service comScore, online Black Friday sales surged 26 percent from last year, and totaled $1.042 billion. The company said that U.S. retail, e-commerce spending on Friday was the heaviest, online spending day to date in 2012. The firm tallied sales of $633M on Thanksgiving. BeachMint Plans Live Shopping Event
BeachMint, the e-commerce firm led by Josh Berman, said this morning that it is holding a live shopping and broadcast event today for Cyber Monday. The Santa Monica company--which runs a large portfolio of celebrity-themed, social shopping sites--said it is partnering with Ustream, Who What Wear, and StyleList for the event. Ceres, Syngenta In Market Development Deal
Thousand Oaks-based Ceres, the developer of seeds for the energy and biofuels industry, said today that its Brazilian subsidiary, Ceres Sementes do Brasil Ltda., is in a deal with Syngenta to develop sweet sorghum-based products to power Brazil's ethanol mills. Volcano Corporation Buys Sync-Rx
San Diego-based Volcano Corporation, a developer of diagnostic tools for treating coronary and peripheral vascular disease, said Friday that it has acquired Sync-Rx Ltd., an Israeli software firm developing image processing products.Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Volcano said that Sync-Rx developing software applications that optimize and facilitate transcatheter cardiovascular interventions using automated online image processing.
