Slacker Unveils New Site, Simplified Design
Slacker, the online music and Internet radio streaming services based in San Diego, has long suffered from being the Rodney Dangerfield of online music streaming. Warner Launches Startup Accelerator In Los Angeles
It looks like there's a new startup accelerator in town today: MediaCamp, an entertainment-focused startup acceleration program backed by Turner Broadcasting, a division of Warner Bros. VoiVoda Funds Mobile Optimization Firm Leanplum
Glendale-based startup incubator, accelerator, and investment fund VoiVoda is one of the investors in mobile optimization firm Leanplum, Leanplum said today. Leanplum announced it raised $825,000 in an angel funding round, which came from TechStars, Kima Ventures, VoiVoda Ventures, and other angels. Cylance, Headed by Foundstone Vet, Secures $15M
Cylance, a new security startup based in Irvine, said this morning that it has raised $15M in a funding round. The round came from Khosla Ventures and Fairhaven Capital. DriveCam Gets Investment From Volvo
San Diego-based DriveCam, the developer of driver monitoring systems for commercial automobile fleets, said this morning that it has received a strategic investment from Volvo Group. Financial details of the investment were not announced. According to DriveCam, Volvo Group Venture Capital made the strategic investment, and becomes a minority shareholder in the company. Verve Mobile Lands $14M From Qualcomm, Others
Verve Mobile, a developer of location-based, mobile advertising services, said today that it has raised $14M in a Series C funding. The firm--which has an office in Carlsbad, but is based in New York--said that Qualcomm and Nokia are new investors in the company. MomentFeed Confirms Funding
Location-based analytics company MomentFeed, which is in Los Angeles, has confirmed the details of its funding round, saying that the $1.8M raised by the firm earlier this month came from existing investors Gold Hill Capital, DFJ Frontier, DFJ-JAIC Venture Partners, Double M Capital, Daher Capital, Gil Elbaz, Clark Landry, and Walter Kortschak. Ticketmaster Debuts Digital Ticket Transfer
Los Angeles-based ticketing firm Ticketmaster is making it easier for users to transfer their tickets to other people, electronically, through a new service, Digital Ticket Transfer. According to Ticketmaster, its new digital ticket transfer service lets users send all kinds of tickets to others, by invalidating and reissuing bar codes. Ticketmaster said the new feature will let users receive new digital ticket barcodes or new, print-at-home tickets. Ticketmaster said the service will be free.
