Midas List: Cornerstone OnDemand, Green Dot Help VCs
Forbes Magazine has released its latest Midas List, its listing of the top venture capitalists, and--once again--Southern California's venture capitalists have been shut out of the list. However, two, Southern California firms drove the inclusion of two other, venture capital investors on the list--Michael Moritz of Sequoia Capital (for his investment in Monrovia-based Green Dot), and Byron Deeter of Bessemer Venture Partners (for his investment in Los Angeles-based Cornerstone OnDemand). Boingo Expands Wi-Fi Network In China
Los Angeles-based Wi-Fi provider Boingo Wireless has expanded its coverage in China, saying Wednesday that it has added Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN), Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (SHA) to its network. Boingo said the addition of the airports means it offers its Wi-Fi serviecs at four of the top five most highly trafficked airports in the country, serving more than 195 million travelers annually. BLANKSPACES Aims At Downtown LA With Crowdfunding Effort
BLANKSPACES, one of the original coworking spaces in the Los Angeles area, told its supporters today that it is looking to open up a new space in downtown LA--if it can raise enough money through a crowdsourcing effort. Chromatik Raises $5.7M For Music Software
Chromatik, the music software company which is revolutionizing sheet music, has raised $5.7M in funding, part of an ongoing $8.8M fundraising effort by the company, according to a regulatory filing by the firm. The Santa Monica startup, which is led by Matt Sandler, develops iPad applications which replace paper sheet music, and which has been rapidly been adopted by musicians. Online comparison shopping service PriceGrabber has launched a new, annual awards program, the firm announced today. PriceGrabber said its new "Highest Rated Merchant Awards" will honor retailers who receive outstanding ratings and reviews on its site, across a number of categories. Atlas Launches Mobile Appointments App

MaxLinear Gets Design Win At Technicolor
Carlsbad-based RF semiconductor developer MaxLinear says today that it has scored a design win with Technicolor. Lumena Pharmaceuticals Gets $23M
San Diego-based Lumena Pharmaceuticals announce today that it has raised $23M in a Series A funding round, to go towards developing oral therapeutics for rare liver diseases. The funding came from Pappas Ventures, RiverVest Venture Partners and Alta Partners. According to Lumena, the new funds will go towards clinical development of its lead product candidate, which is aimed at treating cholestatic liver disease in pediatric and adult patients. National Technical Systems Wins Smart Energy Company
Calabasas-based testing and engineering services firm National Technical Systems has signed up the developer of smart energy devices, the company announced today.
