YouTube Launches Events With Interscope At YouTube Space LA
YouTube said today that it is launching a live, musical performance Thursday at its YouTube Space LA location, as part of a new "Interscope Introducing" series which will feature emerging musical artists and YouTube creators. According to YouTube, the event includes a live performance from musical artist Robin Thicke, along with YouTube comedienne Jenna Marbles. Rubicon Project Debuts New, Private Marketplace For Mobile Ads
Los Angeles-based real-time ad marketplace operator Rubicon Project said today that it has launched a new product, letting publishers create their own private marketplaces for mobile ad inventory. The Design Accelerator Launches Incubator At Idealab
A new, startup incubator-created by the Art Center College of Design and the California Insitute of Technology--said this morning that it has launched a brand new, design-focused incubator, housed at Idealab. According to The Design Accelerator, it will help startups by selecting promising early stage, design-driven technology companies from the Art Center and Caltech communities for an intensive three-month program. EMN8 Raises $50M, Acquires Snapfinger
Los Angeles-based restaurant ordering systems developer EMN8 said this morning that it has acquired Snapfinger, a developer of remote ordering products for the casual dining industry. As part of the acquisition, EMN8 said it raised $50M in a new funding, to both acquire Snapfinger and expand its platforms. The new funding was led by Sid R. Metacloud Raises $10M For Private Cloud Service
Metacloud, a provider of managed, Openstack-based private cloud services, announced this morning that it has raised $10M in a Series A funding round. The round was led by Canaan Partners, and also included Storm Ventures and AME Cloud. The startup, which is led by Sean Lynch and Steve Curry, offers up on-premise, OpenStack-based private clouds to companies, who want to deploy cloud service but do not want to have to manage the infrastructure and maintenance of those cloud deployments. Qualcomm Backs Video Discovery Service Rockpack
San Diego-based Qualcomm is the lead investor in a newly launch, mobile video discovery startup called Rockpack, which just launched today. Rockpack said it is backed by Qualcomm Ventures and angel investors, including Richard Burston, Pascal Cagni, and others; size of that funding has not been announced. Its advisors also include Elizabeth Sheinkman and Sol Parker, of William Morris Endeavor, and Philip DeBevoise, co-founder of Machinima. Rockpack is based in London.

Websense Acquisition By Vista Equity Partners Completes
San Diego-based Websense, the developer of security software, is now officially owned by private equity firm Vista Equity Partners, the two said late Tuesday. Vista Equity Partners paid approximately $1 billion for Websense. The deal had been announced on May 20th. Fans.lu Powers E-Commerce Store For Stan Lee Title
Fans.lu, the Los Angeles- and Detroit-based startup providing e-commerce stores for brands, said this week that it has launched a new e-commerce store for the videogame Verticus, in partnership with Los Angeles mobile entertainment publisher Moonshark. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Verticus is based on the comic book of the same name from Stan Lee. Fans.lu is headed by David Padula, and came out of the StartEngine accelerator. Moonshark is backed by CAA and Qualcomm.

DriveCam Names New Board Member
San Diego-based driver monitoring systems developer DriveCam announced this morning that it has named a new member to its board of directors. The firm said that Thomas Darcy has joined its board, and has been appointed Audit Committee chair. Darcy is co-founder, executive vice president, chief financial officer and director of Tocagen.
