Edison International Buys Solar Power Company
Rosemead, California-based electric utility Edison International said Monday that it has acquired a solar technology developer, SoCore Energy. Financial details of the buy were not disclosed. SoCore Energy is a Chicago-based solar developer which installs and operates commercial solar rooftop installations. Teletrac Sold To Danaher
Garden Grove-based Teletrac, a developer of cloud-based, software-as-a-service products for fleet tracking and fleet operators, has been sold to Danaher, according to private equity investor Vector Capital. Financial terms of the sale were not disclosed. According to Vector Capital, Teletrac is currently providing network tracking of 200,000 vehicles across 87 countries.

CONNECT CEO Passes Away From Bicycling Injuries
One of the leaders of Southern California's most influential technology organizations, CONNECT, has passed away after suffering injuries in a bicycling accident. Duane Roth, the well known leader of San Diego's CONNECT, died Saturday of injuries he suffered in a bicycling accident on July 21st. Roth had been in a medically induced coma since suffering a fall as part of a charity bicycling ride. BioBeats Seeded With $650,000
Beverly Hills-based BioBeats, which develops healthcare apps which says it combines entertainment with healthcare, by generating music from your heartbeat, has raised $650,000 in a seed funding round. The company says it is developing mobile apps for the entertainment, consumer health and wellness and clinical medicine areas. The company's investors include ENIAC Ventures, Kevin Colleran, ZhenFund, Cantora Records, Will Smith, Damon Wayans, Scooter Braun, Justin Boreta, among others.

MicroPower Technologies Finds $5.7M In Funding
San Diego-based MicroPower Technologies, which develops wireless, solar-powered surveillance hardware, has raised $5.7M in an equity funding, the firm said this morning. The funding came from Karmel Capital and others. The company said the new funding will go towards product development, sales, and marketing. Redlands-based mapping software developer Esri is ramping up its efforts to reach out to third party software developers, saying Friday that it has launched a new, free developer subscription for its web, mobile, and online tools and services. ServiceNow Wins Israeli Telecom Company
San Diego-based enterprise IT management provider ServiceNow reported a win today with Israeli telecommunications provider Partner Communications Company Ltd. Financial details of the win were not announced. ServiceNow said that Partner Communications is consolidating more than 10 separate systems across its IT and Engineering divisions to SerivceNow's IT management system. Partner Communications service more than 3 million cellular subscribers in Israel, under the Orange brand.

PopBoardz Aims At Business Presentations
Hollywood-based PopBoardz, a mobile developer, said today that it has released an app aimed at helping users with their business presentations. The company said that company's organization and presentation app runs on the iPad, and lets users create business presentations using images, videos, PDFs, websites, and files from Dropbox and Box.com. PopBoardz says its CEO and founder is Peter Stougaard. The company charges $4.99 for its iPad app.
