ZEFR Links With Fuisz Media
Venice, California-based ZEFR, which helps brands and content owners monetize use of their assets on YouTube, said Monday that it has linked with Fuisz Media, to include direct purchase links on video or people in any video. According to the two, Fuisz Media develops software which automatically places annotation in the middle of videos--using an automated algorithm--which will link back to purchase links or source material like IMDB. DocStoc Buys BestVendor
Santa Monica-based DocStoc, the online small business information and document site headed by Jason Nazar, has acquired a New York company called BestVendor, the two announced today. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. BestVendor provides a tool to help small businesses help find software services, providing recommendations on the best software tools for their company. Amgen Buys Onyx Pharmaceuticals For $10.4 Billion
Thousand Oaks-based biotech giant Amgen announced Sunday that it has acquired San Francisco biopharmaceuticals company Onyx Pharmaceuticals, in a deal worth $10.4 billion. Onyx is a developer of biopharmaceuticals used to help patients with cancer. Amgen said it will pay $125 per share inc ash for Onyx Pharmaceuticals. CapLinked Debuts New File Management Tools
Los Angeles-based CapLinked, the developer of deal room and business transaction software, has launched new file management tools for the service, saying it has rebuilt its file manager "from the ground up." OpenX Taps Exec For Board
Pasadena-based online advertising technology provider OpenX has bolstered its board of directors, saying today that it has named Howard Hochhauser to its board. WD Expands Arkeia Backup Appliance Product Line
Irvine-based storage products provider WD said this morning that it has added two new products to its line of Arkeia backup appliances. WD said its DA1300 and DA2300 appliances are both aimed at the small- and medium-sized business market, and offer all-in-one backup and disaster recovery. The DA1300 uses an Intel Atom dual core processor, and the DA2300 Intel Xeon processors, with the DA1300 aimed at the entry-level market with support for 4TB to 8TB. Life Technologies Expands Food Safety Testing Products
Carlsbad-based life sciences equipment developer Life Technologies has expanded its testing equipment in the food safety and testing area this morning, saying that it has partnered with PIKA Weihenstephan to provide molecular testing for testing in the brewing and beverage market. Life Technologies said the deal will help provide molecular testing to detect spoilage organisms as part of production lines.
