CapLinked Adds Version History Feature
Los Angeles-based deal room software-as-a-service provider CapLinked recently rolled out a new feature which captures version information between documents uploaded to the service, adding even more functionality into the company's service. The company's new feature lets users upload multiple versions of a file, tracking old versions of the file, and ability to restore old versions from an archive. Porch Raising $27.7M
The newly launched, online home improvement project site and community Porch, which is split between San Diego and Seattle, is in the midst of raising $27.7M in a funding round, according to a regulatory filing by the firm this week. According to the filing, the company has so far raised $8.2M in its funding round, which kicked off a couple of weeks ago. No details of the funding have yet been announced by the company. DTS Encoding Format Used On RUSH Soundtrack
The new, encoding format from Calabasas-based DTS, DTS Headphone:X--which helps deliver a better, 3D sound experience while wearing headphones--is being included on a new motion picture soundtrack for the film RUSH. According to DTS, the soundtrack from Hans Zimmer will be released as part of the Rush: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, released by WaterTower Music. Beats Electronics Gets Investment From Carlyle Group
Santa Monica-based Beats Electronics, the audio accessories brand founded by Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine, said today that it has received a minority investment from The Carlyle Group. Financial terms of the deal were not announced. Beats said that Carlyle will work with the company to expand its brand and build its business. Videogame Developer Raises $20M For New Title
A Los Angeles videogame development studio, Cloud Imperium Games, said today that its crowdfunding efforts for its latest title have just passed $20M. Cloud Imperium said that it raised over $10M in the past four and a half months for its new title, Star Citizen, a videogame being developed for the PC platform. Cloud Imperium is headed by Chris Roberts, who had previously developed titles Wing Commander, Freelancer, and Privateer.

WaveMaker Award Offers $160,000 Prize To Startups
Organizers of the annual Siemer Silicon Beach Summit said this week that they've created a new prize, worth $160,000, which it will award to a startup, in a combination of cash and services. Siemer Ventures, Manatt Digital Media, Grant Thorton, Trinet, and SocialRadius said the "Big Kahuna Award", which is part of its annual WaveMaker Awards recognizing companies with the potential for rapid scaling and success, will receive $75,000 in cash from Siemer Ventures and Manatt Venture Fund, plus $85, (More info...)
