Tradesparq Sets Up Shop In SoCal
Chinese global trading site Tradesparq, a Shanghai-based company helping to enable trade with Chinese manufacturers, is setting up shop in Southern California, according to co-founder Michael Kleist. The startup--which is looking to enable trade between Chinese companies and international partners--said the company has started to establish operations here, to help it in its outreach in the U.S. market. Adomic Scores Siemer WaveMaker Prize, $160,000
Santa Monica-based online advertising analytics firm Adomic has scored the top prize--and $160,000 in cash plus services--as part of the annual Siemer Silicon Beach Summit awards. Edmunds.com Offers Up Affiliate Payments For Software Developers
Santa Monica-based auto information site Edmunds.com is extending its outreach to third party software developers, and is offering up affiliate payments of five dollars per new car lead generated by its API partners, the company said this week. According to Edmunds.com, web and mobile developers who use Edmunds.com's API will receive the payments for every new car lead generated via its APIs, which it says is one of the highest commission rates in the automotive category. Evolus Acquired By Strathspey Crown
Santa Barbara-based Evolus, a company producing clinical neurotoxins, has been acquired by private equity investor Strathspey Crown. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed. Evolus had been partnered with Korean pharmaceuticals company Daewoong Pharmaceutical to manage clinical tests and regulatory approvals of Daewoong's Botulinum toxin Type A neurotoxin in the United States. SOFIE BIO Gets $1.8M In SBIR
Culver City-based SOFIE BIOSCIENCES, a developer of imaging diagnostics products, reported earlier this week that it has received $1.8M in a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant. The company said the grant will go towards the development of a chip for synthesis of Positron Emission Tomography (PET) probes for neurobiology applications.
