Avalon Ventures Backs Teambox
San Diego-based venture investor Avalon Ventures is the lead investor in a round for a developer of cloud-based, business collaboration software today. According to Teambox, which was founded in Barcelona, Spain, and which is setting up headquarters in Redwood City, it raised $5M in a Series A led by Avalon Ventures, and which also included the Data Collective Fund. OneRoof Energy Gets New Equity Investment
San Diego-based solar power financing company OneRoof Energy reports this morning that it has received an investment from GDF SUEZ Energy North America. Financial terms of the investment were not announced, hwoever, OneRoof Energy said the deal gives GDF SUEZ a minority position in the company. GDF SUEZ is a major energy company. Goldstar Debuts iOS App, Now Over $100M In Revenues
Pasadena-based discount event ticketing service Goldstar announced this morning that it has launched a new, iOS app to help its members discover events and purchase event tickets. The company, which was co-founded and is led by Jim McCarthy, also revealed that the company will have over $100 million in sales this year. Teledyne Acquires Marine Sensor and Engineering Firm
Thousand Oaks-based Teledyne Technologies, the diversified provider of scientific instrumentation, digital imaging products, defense electronics, systems, and other products, said this morning that it has acquired marine engineering firm C.D. Limited (CDL), which is headquartered in Aberdeen, Scotland. Financial details of the buy were not disclosed. FreedomPop Links With Telespree
Los Angeles-based FreedomPop, the venture-backed startup which is offering up both free broadband as well as free phone service, said today that it has selected Telespree Communications to provide real-time data services for its 3G/4G LTE smartphones and data devices. DTS Adds UltraViolet Decoding To PowerDVD
Calabasas-based audio encoding technology provider DTS said today that PowerDVD, the media player from Cyberlink, will support decoding of the DTS-HD format from new UltraViolet Common File Format (CFF) files. CyberLink's PowerDVD player is used to view DVDs, Blu-Ray, and other media. DTS-HD is an audio encoding scheme for 7.1 channel sound. DriveCam Wins Wisconsin Trucking Company
San Diego-based fleet management and driver monitoring products provider DriveCam reported a win this morning with trucking operator Veriha Trucking. DriveCam said the Wisconsin-based company will roll out its products to its entire fleet. Size of the deal was not announced. DriveCam's systems use both data and video to help fleet managers better manage their drivers, including monitoring driving behavior and fuel consumption.

Hulu Launches Chromecast For iPhone
Los Angeles-based video streaming site Hulu said Monday that it has launched Hulu Plus for Chromecast on the iPhone, giving the ability for users to control video on their Chromecast connected TVs. Hulu had already been offering up Android and iPad support for the app prior to the new release. Chromecast is Google's online video streaming service for connected TVs.
