Seriously Lands $2.35M From Upfront For Video Game Efforts
Seriously, a new video game startup, has just received $2.35M in a seed funding from LA's Upfront Ventures, to help create mobile and casual games. The startup's founders--Petri Jarvilehto and Andrew Stalbow--are both veterans of Roxio, and split between Helsinki and Los Angeles. Sunstone Capital also participated in the funding.

PK4 Media Takes On Video Ad Optimization
Los Angeles-based PK4 Media announced today that it has launched a new product aimed at optimizing both display and video advertising, across mobile, tablet, and online platforms. According to the startup--which is led by Tom Alexander--its new XPS technology helps to both serve up advertisements and optimize delivery of video ads based on site, day, geo, device, and other factors. Demand Media Names Domain Spinoff, Appoints Execs
Santa Monica-based Demand Media said this morning that it has come up with a name for its domain name services group, which it is in the midst of spinning off into an independent company. Demand Media said the new company will be named Rightside Group, Ltd., and will be headed by Taryn Naidu, who is current Demand Media's Executive Vice President of Domain Services. Silvercar Launches At LAX
Los Angeles has been a hot market for smartphone-driven services, with the latest service launching in the market today being Silvercar, a venture backed startup offering up luxury car rentals with GPS, SiriusXM satellite radio, in-car Wi-Fi and other features. Autobytel Makes Investment In SaleMove
Irvine-based automotive information and leads site Autobytel said today that it has made an investment in SaleMove, a provider of online car buying technology. According to Autobytel, it made the investment as part of a deal to become the exclusive provider to the auto industry of SaleMove's technology. M-GO Debuts On LG Smart TVs
Los Angeles-based movie and television streaming service M-GO and electronics company LG Electronics said today that they are rolling out M-GO's service on LG's new Internet-connected, smart televisions. The two said that LG is preloading M-Go's software into LG's Smart TV homepage. Financial details of the deal were not announced. M-GO lets users purchase access to movies, via rentals and purchases. MSC Software Wins Volvo Group
Newport Beach-based simulation software developer MSC Software said today that it has signed up truck manufacturer Volvo Group as a customer. MSC Software said that Volvo Group is using its Actran acoustic simulation software to reduce cabin noise in its trucks. FInancial impact of the win was not announced.

EDF Renewable Energy Buys Big Texas Wind Project
San Diego-based EDF Renewable Energy said Monday that it has acquired a large, 200 megawatt wind project in Texas. EDF Renewable Energy did not disclose financial details of the deal, but said it is acquiring the Longhorn Wind Project from Renewable Energy Systems Americas. The wind farm is being built on 14,000 acres near Lubbock, Texas.
