Nasty Gal Sues New Nasty Over Trademark
Los Angeles-based fashion site Nasty Gal has sued a fellow, Los Angeles fashion e-commerce provider, New Nasty, over it use of the word "Nasty", according to a legal filing by Nasty Gal this week. A lawsuit filed on November 18th in the California Central District Court accuses Charamon Hunter, the owner of New Nasty, of trademark infringement for the use of the name "Nasty". Nasty Gal is seeking to prevent the use of the name "New Nasty", saying the name confuses consumers.

TigerText Ties With Cloud Contact Software Provider
Santa Monica-based real-time, secure messaging app provider TigerText--which has seen widespread adoption with healthcare providers--said today that it has integrated its product with contact center software provider Startel. Nimble Partners With Data Synchronization Provider Kevy
Los Angeles-based customer and contact relationship management software provider Nimble said Tuesday that it has linked with cloud integration startup Kevy, to help connect their cloud apps into Nimble. CapLinked Adds $1M, New Investors In Funding Round
Los Angeles-based CapLinked, the developer of business transaction and deal management software-as-a-service, said today that it has raised $1M in an expansion round for the company. The new funding came from Subtraction Capital, FF Angel, 500 Startups, and other investors. The startup--which is led by PayPal veteran Erik M. FreedomPop Lets Users Bring Their Own Phones To Free Calling Service
In a move to sign up more consumers for the company's free mobile phone service, Los Angeles-based FreedomPop said yesterday that it will start letting users bring their old Sprint phones to its service. The company--which is offering up both free broadband and free mobile phone service--said users with old Sprint phones can add a line using the service for free, by simply activating those old phones on its network. Ziff Davis Acquires TechBargains.com
Ziff Davis, the publishing arm of Los Angeles-based Internet services firm j2 Global, said Tuesday that it has acquired deal aggregation site TechBargains.com, from Exponential Interactive. Financial terms of the acquisition were not anounced. According to Ziff Davis, the financial impact to j2 Global was not expected to be material to the company. Call of Duty: Ghosts Hits Xbox One Friday
Santa Monica-based videogame publisher Activision said this morning that it is launching its latest Call of Duty sequel, Call of Duty: Ghosts, on the Xbox One on Friday. The game--which racked up more than $1 billion of sales on day one of its release of the title on PlayStation4--is due to ship for the Xbox One this Friday, November 22nd. .BUILD Takes On New Domain Extension
Los Angeles-based .BUILD said this week that it has launched a new company focused on administering the new, global top level domain (gTLD) of the same name, targeting the construction and other industries. The startup said it was founded by George Minardos and Thomas Brackey, and is offering up its domain names via Godaddy.com. SOA Software Bolsters Microsoft Support With New Product
Los Angeles-based SOA Software, which develops products for managing the connections between enterprise software, said today that it has added a new product aimed at the Microsoft environment. The company said its new product, Intermediary for Microsoft, helps connect front end mobile, cloud, and portal applications with Microsoft services. Pricing on the new product was not announced. The new software supports SOA and API management functions required for the Microsoft environment.
