Angeleno Group Backs Stem's Energy Storage Systems
Los Angeles-based cleantech investor Angeleno Group has put more funds towards energy storage startup Stem, as part of a Series B funding round. Stem--which is based in Millbrae, in Silicon Valley--said it closed a $15M, Series B funding round from Iberdrola (Inversiones Financieras Perseo, S.L.), GE Ventures, and Angeleno Group this morning. Inogen Files For IPO
Goleta-based medical equipment manufacturer Inogen filed for an IPO over the weekend, saying that it plans to list on the NASDAQ Global Market under the symbol INGN. The developer of portable oxygen concentrators -- used as an alternative to bulky, oxygen canisters for those with chronic respiratory conditions like COPD -- said it plans to raised up to $86.25M in its public debut. NewEgg Opens Up Retail Location At Warehouse In City of Industry
Los Angeles-based electronics e-commerce giant NewEgg said last week that it is opening up a new, retail location, called the Neweggg Hybrid Center, which will let customers demo technology and digital lifestyle products. NewEgg--which launched the center ahead of Black Friday--said the new facility will let users pick up orders, but also browse through an "expansive showroom" of the latest tech products. The new, retail location is attached to NewEgg's local warehouse in the City of Industry.

Broadcom Gets Chinese Android Smartphone Design Win
Irvine-based Broadcom announced a design win this morning with Chinese consumer electronics OEM G'Five, saying that the company is using its quad-core, HSPA+ smartphone platform for a new Android smartphone. Broadcom said that G'Five will use its platform for its WG5701 Android smartphone, which features a 5.7 inch HD display, 13MP camera, and other features. MaxLinear Wins Hisense
Carlsbad-based radio frequency and mixed signal chip provider MaxLinear reports this morning that it has scored a design win with the Hisense Group, the Chinese TV manufacturer. According to MaxLinear, HiSense is using its MxL661 CMOS TV tuner IC in its latest generation of LED/LCD televisions. Shipment volumes and financial impact of the design win was not announced. EDF Renewable Energy Acquires Texas Wind Project
San Diego-based renewable energy developer EDF Renewable Energy said last week that it has acquired a 200 megawatt, wind project in Texas. EDF Renewable Energy said it acquired the 200 megawatt Hereford 1 Wind Project, which is based in Deaf Smith County. The company said the purchase brings its total wind capacity in Texas to 561 MW. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. EDF acquired the wind project from Lincoln Renewable Energy.

Isis Pharmaceuticals Earns $2M From GlaxoSmithKline
Carlsbad-based biopharmaceuticals developer Isis Pharmaceuticals said this morning that it has earned $2M from GlaxoSmithKline, related to advancement of a compound in Phase 2/3 studies. The company said the milestone payment from GSK was related to its ISIS-TTRRx studies aimed at patients with familial amyloid polyneuropathy (FAP). Isis said the $2M is part of $50M in potential milestone payments that Isis is eligible to earn from GlaxoSmithKline.
