Laudville Bolsters Advisory Board With Oversee.net's Chuang
Los Angeles-based Laudville, a startup developing an online platform to help users share entertainment like movies, books, TV, and music with friends, has added Gene Chuang to its board of advisors, according to the firm. Chuang is currently Chief Technology Officer at Oversee.net,and also has served at such companies as Yahoo! Search Marketing, YP.com/AT&T Interactive and Chegg. Chuang is also a mentor at Muckerlab. Demand Media Loses Chief Revenue Officer
Santa Monica-based Demand Media has lost its Chief Revenue Officer, Jeff Dossett, to startup Porch.com, only eight months after Dossett was named to the position after the loss of former Chief Revenue and Marketing Officer Bradford. According to Porch.com--which operates an online site which helps homeowners explore and get information on remodeling projects, including peeking into their neighbor's projects and costs--Dossett will join the company in Seattle to head up all its profit and revenue (More info...)

Atara Biotherapeutics Gets $38.5M
Thousand Oaks-based biopharmaceuticals startup Atara Biotherapeutics announced this morning that it has raised $38.5M in a Series B funding round, for its efforts to develop treatments for patients with end-stage renal disease. The funding came from Amgen Ventures, Celgene Corporation, EcoR1 Capital, plus Alexandria Venture Investments, DAG Ventures, Domain Associates, and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. DTS Wins Indian Mobile Phone Brand
Calabasas-based audio processing technology provider DTS announced today that it has scored a design win with Indian mobile phone brand Karbonn Mobiles. DTS said that Karbonn will be integrating its DTS Sound technology into its multimedia phone, the Karbonn A15+. Financial impact of the win was not announced. DTS provides surround sound and audio processing technology.

ViaSat Expands Satellite Internet Plan
Carlsbad-based satellite Internet operator and equipment developer ViaSat is expandings its new Exede Evolution satellite Internet plan, saying it has expanded the service into 30 states. The company had been in limited launch in a few select markets since earlier this year. ViaSat's satellite internet provides unlimited, unmetered access to email and web pages, but bandwidth limits music, streaming media, and chat, starting at $64.99 a month. D-Link Sets Sales VP
Fountain Valley-based D-Link, the manufacturer of network switches, wireless access points, and other networking products, said today that it has named Michael Hardy as its Vice President of Channel and Enterprise Sales. Hardy was most recently VP of Sales and Business Development at Waterford Technology. Hardy has also served at Technology Integration Group, Quantum Corporation, and Chaparral Network Storage, among other companies.
