Allied Wallet Buys CloudAsia
Los Angeles-based Allied Wallet, a provider of online credit card processing, said this week that it has acquired Chinese payment processor, CloudAsia,. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Allied Wallet said that CloudAsia is one of the largest Chinese payment processors in Hong Kong. Allied Wallet said the move will help it grow in Asia. Allied Wallet is led by Andy Khawaja.

Qualcomm Buys Palm Patent Portfolio From HP
San Diego-based Qualcomm said late Thursday that it has acquired a huge stash of patents from HP, covering patents from Palm, IPAQ, and Bitfone. According to Qualcomm, it acquired approximately 1,000 granted patents and pending patent applications from Hewlett-Packard Company, Hewlett-Packard Development Co LP and Palm Inc., including technology covering "fundamental" mobile operating system techniques. PostageAnywhere Takes On Online Postage Printing
Los Angeles-based PostageAnywhere, a new startup, said Thursday that it has launched a new, cloud-based postage and shipping service, which lets users print official, USPS postage online. The startup--which looks to be aiming at Stamps.com--said its service is the lowest cost online postage platform and does not require monthly fees. The startup is led by Greg Ojeda.

Hulu Gears Up For Super Bowl
Are you one of the people who enjoys watching the ads for the Super Bowl as much as you enjoy the game itself? Los Angeles-based Hulu is gearing up once again for the Super Bowl, and recently launched its Hulu AdZone. The site lets viewers view both new and old commercials from the current and prior Super Bowl season, including the many popular ads from prior Super Bowls. Hulu will also be posting, in real time, the new crop of ads are they unveiled during the big game.

Edmunds.com Debuts New Online Rating, Reviews Management Tool
Santa Monica-based automotive information provider Edmunds.com said yesterday that it has released a new tool for auto dealers, aimed at helping them to collect and manage customer reviews and ratings. According to Edmunds.com, its new Review Accelerator tool can be embedded into a car dealer website, to gather ratings and reviews from customers. Yardi Wins Apartment Manager
Santa Barbara-based Yardi reported another customer win this week, with Washington state property manager Pillar Properties. Size and financial impact of the win was not announced by Yardi. Pillar Properties manages apartments in Washington state, mostly in the Seattle area. Yardi develops a large portfolio of real estate investment and property management software.
