Ranker Debuts Polling Widget
Los Angeles-based Ranker, the online site which lets users create their own list of rankings to share with others on any topic, said today that it has launched a new, online polling widget aimed at helping website owners increase user engagement. The company--which is led by Clark Benson--said the new widget lets site owners embed interactive polls, lists, and slideshows on their website, whichit says can increase user engagement, times on sites, and comments. The new widget is free.

uSamp Rolls Out New Products
Los Angeles-based uSamp, which develops surveying and sampling technology and services for the market research industry, said this morning that it has rolled out a set of new products. The company sai dit has launched tow mobile products, uSamp Mobile In-Home and uSamp Mobile In-Store, which help market researchers access consumers on demand in those two locations. XCOR Aerospace Raises $14.2M More
Mojave-based space vehicle maker XCOR Aerospace said this morning that it has raised $14.2M in a Series B funding round. The company--which is in the midst of developing a reusable, rocket-powered vehicles for launching people into space--said the funding came from Space Expedition Corporation (SXC) of The Netherlands. As part of the funding, SXC is adding Michiel Mol and Mark Hoogendoorn to XCOR's board of directors. XCOR said it will use the new funding to help to bring its Lynx suborbital spa (More info...)

Vitesse Gets Design Win In Taiwan
Camarillo-based Vitesse Semiconductor reported a win today, with a Taiwanese electronics manufacturer. Vitesse said that Planet Technology Corporation is using its Ethernet switch technology and software, as part of a smart Ethernet switch. Financial impact of the win was not disclosed. Vitesse said that Planet Technology is using its SparX and E-StaX Ethernet switch technology and SMBStax software, for a managed Layer 2/Layer 3 Ethernet switch aimed at the SME, Enterprise, and Internet-of-Thing (More info...)

MSC Software Used In Tidal Energy Project
Newport Beach-based MSC Software, which develops simulation and design software, said its software has been used in the design of what is the largest tidal turbine in the world. The company said its software was used by Scotrenewables Tidal Power Ltd (SRTP), in the Orkney Islands, for the rotor blade design and analysis in that project.
