SpaceX To Unveil Manned Spacecraft Tonight
Hawthorne, California-based SpaceX is planning to unveil its next-generation spacecraft--the Dragon V2--tonight, which it says will be able to carry astronauts to space. SpaceX said that it will webcast the unveiling of the new space vehicle tonight, at 7:00 p.m. PT, direct from its manufacturing facility in Hawthorne. Connect6 Aims To Bridge The Web, Real Life Contacts
A new, Los Angeles-based Connect6 launched this week, with a new, Chrome browser extension which looks to bridge the web--and such sites as Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, and other services--with LinkedIn-like information on potential contacts. The company's software discovers contacts online, and allows users to click on an icon to pull up important business details, like job title, employer, job skills, email address, phone number, and more. Nix Hydra Gets $5M For Video Games
Los Angeles-based Nix Hydra, a startup video game development company led by Lina Chen and Naomi Ladizinsky, said this morning that it has raised $5M in a Series A funding. The funding came from the Foundry Group, as well as angel investor Mike Lazerow. Nix Hydra develops video games aimed at young women, including Egg Baby and Hot Guy Alarm Clock. Resonant Prices IPO
Santa Barbara-based Resonant, which is developing radio frequency filters (RF) used for mobile devices, has priced its IPO, saying it is offering up 2,700,000 shares of its common stock at a price of $6.00 per share. The company is slated to start trading on the Nasdaq Capital Market as RESN today. Resonant's IPO was underwritten by MDB Capital Group. The company is a spinout of another Santa Barbara company, Superconductor Technologies. The IPO raises only $16.2M for the company.

Gimbal Completes Spinout From Qualcomm, Gets Funding Round
San Diego-based Gimbal, formerly known as Qualcomm Retail Solutions (QRS), said Wednesday that it has completed its transition to a standalone company, and scored funding from a set of investors. Gimbal said it received funding from i-Hatch LBS Fund, AEG, SK Planet and Zebra Technologies Corporation. Size of the funding was not disclosed. Gimbal develops geofencing and proximity beacons. Gimbal said that Qualcomm Technologies remains a substantial investor in the new company.

Everbridge Expands To IT Alerts
Glendale-based emergency communications and alert provider Everbridge said late Wednesday that it has launched a new product, aimed at the information technology industry. According to Everbridge, it has launched IT Alerting, a new product which is aimed at automatically alerting IT personnel about issues and automatically handling escalation of issues for organizations. uSamp Names New VP
Los Angeles-based uSamp, the developer of market research products and services, said yesterday that it has named Joe Jordan as its new Vice President, Panel Operations. Jordan was most recently Strategic Account Director, Media & Entertainment, for Networked Insights. He also has served at Troy Research and other companies. uSamp said Jordan will help it expand its online and mobile panel products.
