Frost Data Capital, GE Launch Industrial Internet Incubator
Frost Data Capital, the startup incubator firm led by Stuart Frost, has tied with GE to launch a new, startup incubator aimed at industrial Internet startups, the two said Wednesday. The two said they have started Frost I3, which will provide funding, resources, and expertise aimed at companies focused on industrial technologies. Shotgun Software Acquired By Autodesk
Los Angeles-based Shotgun Software, a developer of cloud-based production tracking, review, and asset management software for the film, television and games industries, has been acquired by Autodesk, the two said Wednesday. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed. Shotgun--which was founded in 2006--was co-founded by Don Parker and Isaac Reuben. Autodesk said it will help the company accelerate solutions to its creative customers.

Boingo Wireless Set To Get Approval In New York
Los Angeles-based wireless hotspot operator Boingo Wireless is expected to get approval to roll out its services with the New York Port Authority, according to a report. Boingo--which offers up Wi-Fi and cellular service in airports, stadiums, and other locations--apparently would offer free wireles Internet at a number of airports, including Kennedy, LaGuardia and Newark airports. The deal is apparently being championed by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Dreamworks Backs Fingerprint For Kids' Apps, Games, Video
Glendale-based Dreamworks is one of the lead investors in a developer of mobile kids' apps, Fingerprint, which said Wednesday that it has raised $10.85M in a Series B funding round. According to San Francisco-based Fingerprint, the new funding round is a Series B. Fingerprint operates a series of application networks focused on kids, which includes apps, e-books, and video services.

Moviepilot Goes Native, Bets On LA, US Market
Moviepilot, the online film review and publishing site led by Tobias Bauckhage, has sold off its German website, moviepilot.de, to French publisher Webedia. The move puts the company's focused squarely on its Los Angeles operations. The sale netted the company $20M, which it will use to fund its U.S. efforts. Moviepilot's web site focuses on film recommendations, film discovery, and the company also helps studios with social media campaigns. Former Hulu Head Kilar's New Company, Vessel, Gets Funding
Vessel, a new startup founded by former Hulu CEO Jason Kilar and CTO Richard Tom, has raised a round of funding from Benchmark Capital, Greylock Partners, and Bezos Expeditions. Benchmark's Bill Gurley and Greylock's David Sze have both joined the company's board as part of the funding. Vessel is in stealth mode, and has not said anything about what it is developing. Oculus Buys Carbon Design
Irvine-based virtual reality technology developer Oculus VR--now owned by Facebook--said Tuesday that it has acquired the team behind Carbon Design, an industrial design and product engineering team. According to Oculus, the team will become a "key component" of the product engineering group at Oculus, and will operate out of Seattle. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed. ACTIVE Network Wins Chicago Triathalon
San Diego-based ACTIVE Network reports this morning that its cloud-based software products are being used as part of the ITU World Triathlon Chicago, which is run by the International Triathlon Union. According to ACTIVE Network, the deal makes the company an official "Gold-Level" partner of USA Triathalon. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed. Around 4,000 athletes participate in the event. ACTIVE's software is being used for participant registration and management.

Glip Adds Application Integration With Github, Other Tools
Los Angeles-based business messaging app developer Glip said today that it has added integration with applications Jira, Harvest, and Github, as a new effort to integrate its tools with other products. Glip said the integrations also include a new product called Glip Webhooks, which will allow anyone to connect their service into Glip.
