Heard Takes On Social Sharing, Networking
Santa Monica-based Heard, a startup developing social sharing and networking software for iOS, Android, and the desktop said this week that it has launched a brand new "social exchange" software product aimed at letting people share and exchange content online. The company was co-founded by Dave Vronay (CEO) and Ruben Kleinman (CTO), who previously spent time at Netflix developing that company's movie classification and matching system. Colorescience Gets $15M
Carslbad-based Colorescience, a developer of premium makeup, suncare, and skincare products, said this week that it has raised $15M in a funding round. The Series B funding was led by Longwood Fund, and also included the company's existing investors. The company said $7.5M of that round came from its existing investors, whic include Hale BioPharma Ventures, Split Rock Partners, Merritt Capital Corporation, HealthCare Ventures, Montreux, Domain Associates, and others. Cynvenio Biosystems Scores Insurance Reimbursement Win
Westlake Village-based Cynvenio Biosystems said this week that it has scored a big win for its genomic testing products, with the company's ClearID Breast Cancer test now reimburseable under most health insurance plans. Cynvenio said its cancer therapy blood test is being accepted by Aetna, UnitedHealth Group, Cigna, Assurant, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Humana, Kaiser Permanente and others.
