Squawkin Raises $2.5M For Social Communications App
Pasadena-based Squawkin, a developer of mobile apps which let users communicate using voice, photos, and text, said Monday that it has raised $2.5M in a funding round, and also has launched its apps. The startup said its new app, which runs on iOS and Android, lets users combine live voice streaming, photos, text plus location. The startup is led by Dean Glasse. Other details on the funding were not announced. The company said it is in the midst of a second funding round.

Hulu Gets All Of South Park
Los Angeles-based streaming television site Hulu has inked a deal to stream every episode of South Park, the site said over the weekend, According to Hulu, all seventeen seasons of South Park--over 200 episodes--are now available on Hulu. The site also said that new episodes from the current season, season 18, will be available the day after they air. Dollar Shave Club Gets $50M More
Los Angeles-based Dollar Shave Club, the subscription e-commerce startup led by Michael Dubin, has raised $50M in a Series C funding round, the company disclosed this morning. The funding came from Technology Crossover Ventures. The company's prior backers include Andreessen Horowitz, Battery Ventures, Comcast Ventures, Felicis Ventures, Forerunner Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, New World Ventures, Science Inc., Shasta Ventures, and Venrock Associates. Ambit Biosciences Acquired By Daiichi Sankyo For $410M
San Diego-based biotech Ambit Biosciences is being acquired by Japanese biotech developer Daiichi Sankyo COmpany, Ltd., in a deal worth approximately $410M the two said this morning. According to the two Daiichi Sankyo has agreed to pay $15 per share in cash for Ambit, plus up to an additional $4.50 per share depending on commercialization milestones. Aggregage Wins 3D Printing Group
Los Angeles-based Aggregage, which develops aggregation and curation software to help B2B publishers curate and develop their own publications, said today that it has launched a new site for the 3D Printing Association. Allergan: Valeant Offer Grossly Inadequate
Irvine-based Allergan issued a statement this morning calling the latest offer from Valeant as "grossly inadequate", saying the offer still "substantially undervalues" the company. Allergan reiterated its opposition to $53 billion hostile takeover. Valeant has been trying to take over Allergan since April. Allergan is a developer of eye care and other medical products.

UCSD Plans Battery Energy Storage System
The University of California, San Diego is planning to install a big, battery-based energy storage system on campus, to capture wind and solar power to use on the campus, the school said this morning. According to UCSD, it will install a 2.5 megawatt, 5 megawatt/hour system as part of its own microgrid, tapping rechargeable batteries from BYD.
