ViaSat Buys ASIC, FPGA Design Company
Carlsbad-based ViaSat, the satellite communications technology developer, said today that it has acquire ASIC and FPGA design provider EAI Design Services. Financial details of the buy were not disclosed. ViaSat said it will use the buy to bolster its capabilities in the high-speed, low-power secure space-based ASIC and FPGA microprocessor design area. Booker, With Office In Irvine, Gets $35M
Online appointment booking service Booker, which has an office in Irvine, said Tuesday that it has raised $35M in a Series C funding round. The New York startup offers up an online service, aimed at small and medium sized businesses, and helps book and schedule appointments for those customers. The company focuses on businesses such as spas, massage therapists, skin and hair care, and other similar service focused industries. Hulu Inks Deal For Disney Junior Content
Santa Monica-based online streaming television provider Hulu, along with Disney-ABC Television Group, said this morning they have inked a deal to bring Disney Junior's content to Hulu. The two said they are starting with and exclusive on two animated series, Doc McStuffins and Bunnytown, along with a non-exclusive deal to Handy Manny. Western Digital Buys Amplidata
Irvine-based Western Digital said this morning that its subsidiary, HGST, has agreed to acquire object storage software developer Amplidata. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. WD said the move will help the company expand into higher value data storage platforms. Amplidata was venture backed by Big Bang Ventures, Endeavor Vision, Hummingbird Ventures, Intel Capital, Quantum Corp., and Swisscom, and had raised at least $25.0M in funding. Vantage Media Becomes Katch
Los Angeles-based advertising technology developer Vantage Media said this morning that it has rebranded the company, and has changed its name to Katch, as a new focus on its software platform. Crisi Acquired By Becton Dickinson
San Diego-based CRISI Medical Systems, a developer of drug delivery systems for IV injectable medications, has been acquired by BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company). Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. BD and CRISI have been in a partnership since June of 2013 in developing a system for real-time drug identification, dose measurement, and allergy detection for IV injections.

Oculus Hires High Profile Google Executive
Irvine-based >Oculus, the virtual reality google maker now owned by Facebook, has hired away high profile Google executive Mary Lou Jepsen, according to a report. Jepsen ran the Display Division of Google X, and also had been co-founder and CTO of the One Laptop Per Child.
