Study: Talking, Texting, Singing Behind Many Teen Crashes
A new study--driven by data collected by San Diego's Lytx--finds that talking, texting, and singing and moving to music are among the most common fof distraction leading up to crashed by teen drivers. The study, released by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, used videos of teen drivers provided by Lytx, to identify the distraction that led to crashes by teen drivers. SERVIZ Gets Giant New Competitor: Amazon.com
Sherman Oaks-based SERVIZ, the home services marketplace founded by former ReachLocal head Zorik Gordon, has a giant new competitor as of this morning: Amazon.com. According to Amazon.com, it has launched a brand new service called Amazon Home Services, which will offer up access to home service providers in New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle, along with other areas. Auspex Pharmaceuticals Acquired By Teva For $3.2 Billion
La Jolla-based biopharmaceuticals developer Auspex Pharmaceuticals has agreed to be acquired by Israeli biotech firm Teva Pharmaceuticals, in a deal worth $3.2 billion in cash. The two said that Teva will pay $101.00 per shar in cash for Auspexx Pharmaceuticals. Auspex develops drugs aimed at Huntington's disease, tardive dyskinesia, and Tourette syndrome. MaxLinear Gets Brazilian Cert
Carlsbad-based radio frequency chip maker MaxLinear said today that it has received a certification in Brazil, which gives it access to an upcoming government subsidy program in that county. According to MaxLinear, its MxL683 ISDB-T receiver has been been certified for immunity to LTE interference, a requirement in Brazil, where LTE uplink frequencies and digital television signals are immediately next to each other--a high probability of interface. Guidance Links EnCase With Dropbox
Pasadena-based Guidance Software, the developer of the EnCase electronics discovery and digital forensics software, said today that it has integrated its product with Dropbox for Business. The company said the move will make it the first company with e-discovery capabilities for Dropbox for Business customers. EnCase said the move allows businesses to have visibility into employees' Dropbox accounts, especially in the case of litigation or compliance requirements.

Shuttlerock Powers Yogi Surprise
Los Angeles-based Shuttlerock, which develops visual marketing software, said that subscription yoga company Yogi Surprise has selected the company to power their visual marketing efforts. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed. The companies said that Shuttlerock's platform allows Yogi Surprise to share subscriber photos on social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Shuttlerock raised its Series A and moved its headquarters to LA in September.
