Thursday, June 18, 2015Visage Finds $2.15M In Seed FundingIrvine-based Visage, which offers up a service aimed at online marketers to help create infographics, said this morning that it has raised $2.15M in a seed funding. The funding was led by Venture51, and also included K5 Ventures and Kima Ventures, along with angels Robin Pimentel and Dan Martell. The startup, led by Jason Lankow, says it can help marketers create data graphics in just three minutes, and save on what normally is a very high cost and long production time for professional designs.

Disney Cancels Tech Layoffs In Burbank
Disney/ABC Television, which had planned to replace about 35 information technology workers split between its New York and Burbank offices with imported H-1B workers from an outsourcer, has abruptly cancelled those plans. Disney had told its workers in May that it would be replacing them with workers--imported from India--from outsourcer Cognizant. It's unclear why Disney cancelled, the move, although the company has come under intense fire for replacing its employees with foreign, H-1B worker (More info...)

Teledyne Names New Board MemberThousand Oaks-based Teledyne Technologies said this morning that it has added Bob Malone, the Executive Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of First Sonora Bancshares, to its board of directors. Malone was previously Executive Vice President of BP, and also had served as Chairman and President of BP America. KFx Medical Gets $35M From Patent Infringement SuitSan Diego-based KFx Medical said late Wednesday that it has received $35M in a payment, related to the company's patent infringement suite against Arthrex. The payment is related to a jury award which found that Arthrex had infringed upon a patent owned by KFx. That patent infringement lawsuit was filed in 2011, but only recently completed its journey through the legal system.
