Fuisz Media Raises $10M
Santa Monica-based Fuisz Media, which develops interactive video technology, has raised $10M in a Series A funding, the company disclosed today. The funding came from Evolution Media Partners. Ross Levinsohn and Ian Doddy have both joined Fuisz Media's board with the funding. Fuisz Media develops software which automatically identifies objects and people in a video, and links those objects and people to purchases and other links. Fuisz currently has deals with Awesomeness TV, ZEFR, and others.

Luxe Shifts Workers To Employee Status
On-demand, valet parking app developer Luxe, which launched into Los Angeles back in January, said this morning that it is shifting all of its 1099 contractors to W2 full- and part-time employees. Luxe said it will begin rolling out its new employee model immediately. Luxe said the change will mean health insurance for full time employees, and that it will now pay for expenses such as phones, jackets, and other work related equipment. Rhubarb Studios Launches Drought Hackathon At Downtown Incubator
Los Angeles-based Rhubarb Studios, a new startup accelerator and incubator downtown, has announced a weekend long "hackathon" focused on figuring out solutions to California's drought. According to Rhubarb Studios, it will host a 48-hour hackathon from August 21s to 23rd in its Hack for Humanity, to allow hackers, makers, and problem solvers to invent technology and solutions to address the water crisis. TrueCar Settles Trademark Dispute
Santa Monica-based TrueCar said Wednesday that it has settled a trademark lawsuit that it had filed against Charlotte, North Carolina-based Sonic Automotive. Financial terms of the settlement were not disclosed. TrueCar had sued Sonic over the use of the the term "True Price" in its advertising. TrueCar said that it had established its sole and exclusive rights to TRUECAR trademark and TRUE family of trademarks. Zadara Extends To South Korea
Irvine-based storage-as-a-service provider Zadara Storage said this week that it has extended its footprint to Korea, through a relationship with local South Korean reseller EbizTech. EbizTech provides system integration and cloud storage services. Zadara develops a hardware product, the Zadara Virtual Private Storage Array, which helps customers shift to cloud storage--either in the public cloud, or locally as a private cloud.
