Soylent Launches New Product With Soylent 2.0
Los Angeles-based Soylent, the startup which is looking to replace food and eating with an all-inclusive drink that contains 100 percent of the nutrients a human needs without the need for actually eating food, has rolled out a new version of its product it is calling "Soylent 2.0". The unfortunately named startup--not to be confused with the depressing, dystopian Charlton Heston movie of the identical name--says its new product is entirely vegan, and uses--wait for it--"farm-free, algae sources (More info...)

Cylance Secures $42M
Irvine-based antivirus software developer Cylance has raised $42M in a Series C funding, the company said last week. The funding was led by DFJ Growth, and also included KKR, Dell Ventures, Capital One Ventures and TenEleven Ventures. Cylance says it is using artificial intelligence to predict, identify, and stop cyber attacks on computer endpoints. Cylance is led by former McAfee Global CTO Stuart McClure. DFJ Growth's Mark Bailey joins Cylance's board of directors with the funding round.

WizRocket Conjures Up $8M
Walnut, California-based WizRocket, a developer of mobile ad technology which helps companies better profile and target customers, has raised $8M in a funding round. The funding came from Sequoia Capital and Accel Partners. The funding comes on top of an earlier, unannounced $1.6M seed funding from Accel. WizRocket said Sequoia's Mohit Bhatnagar led the investment. Walnut is in eastern Los Angeles County.

Luxe Launches Post-Drinking Drive Home Service In LA
Luxe, the on-demand, luxury valet service, said today that it is expanding its service in Los Angeles with a new "Drive Home" service aimed at drinkers in LA. If you've had a little bit to drink while out on the town in Los Angeles to drive home safely, Luxe said it will begin offering service on Thursday through Saturday from 5pm to 2am in Hollywood, and 5pm to 1am in Downtown, which will drive users home safely in their own cars. HowLoud Looks To Tell You How Loud Your New Apartment Or House Will Be
Are you thinking about moving across town to that new apartment, or buying a new house in a neighborhood? A new, Los Angeles startup HowLoud, says it is developing a service which will figure that out--ahead of time--while you are looking for properties. NantKwest: $222.5M Raised In IPO
Culver City-based NantKwest, the immunotherapy developer aiming to treat cancer with its technology, said Friday that it raised a total of $22.5M in its IPO, where it sold 9,531,200 shares of its stock at $25.00 per share. The company's stock is now hovering around $30.00 per share. The company's market cap is now around $2.14 billion. NantKest--formerly known as Conkwest--was mostly owned by biotech billionaire Patrick Soon-Shiong before the IPO. The company is now trading as NK on the Nasdaq.

Los Angeles-based online real estate marketplace AssetAvenue announced this morning that it has named Peter Coleman as the company's new Chief Financial Officer. Coleman most recently has was CFO for Fuhu, and prior to that LOYAL3 HOLDINGS. He also serv d at Merriman Holdings, ThinkEquity Parttners,Charles Schwab, and Bank of America. AssetAvenue operates an online real estate marketplace which connects private investors and real estate developers.

Yardi Wins New York Property Manager
Santa Barbara-based property management software developer Yardi reported another win this morning, with a New York City commercial property leasing and management company. Yardi did not disclose the financial impact of the deal. Yardi said that Sage Realty Corp. ii using its Yardi Voyager platform, for property management, accounting, invoice processing and job costing. Sage Realty manages over 3 million square feet in New York City.
