Uber At LAX? Not So Fast
Looking forward to when you will be able to call Uber or Lyft for a ride from Los Angeles International? Not so fast. Just two weeks after the city airport commission approved pickups by Uber and Lyft at LAX, the Los Angeles City Council has voted to delay implementation of the commission's permit plan. Energous Sets Up Engineering Office In Costa Mesa
Silicon Valley-bsaed wireless charging electronics developer ,a href="http://www.energous.com">Energous has opened up a new office in Costa Mesa, the company announced today. The company said the new location in Orange County will help it tap into the talent residing in southern Los Angeles, Orange County and northern San Diego Counties. Ice Energy Opens R&D Center In Riverside
Santa Barbara-based energy storage technology developer Ice Energy announced today that it is opening up a new, research and development center in Riverside, with plans to immediately hire 12 at the location. Ice Energy said the move comes due to grants and incentives from Riverside, as well as the University of California, Riverside. AdtoApp Gets $6M For Programmatic Ad Platform For Publishers
Los Angeles-based AdtoApp, a developer of programmatic ad tools for publishers, has raised $6M in a funding round, according to the company. The funding came from Run Capital. The company says its tools help publishers double their effective CPM (eCPM), by predicting who is going to bid on their ads and selecting the highest paying advertisement, rather than ad network, for an ad placement. Illumina Buys GenoLogics
San Diego-based Illumina announced late Tuesday that it has acquired GenoLogics Life Sciences Software, a developer of laboratory information management systems. Illumina did not announced the financial details of the acquisition. GenoLogics becomes part of Illumina's Enterprise Informatics business. Illumina said that GenoLogics' software is currently used by over 120 genomic labs to manage lab samples.

IQMS Raises $40M More
Paso Robles-based IQMS, a developer of manufacturing ERP software, announced late Tuesday that it has raised $40M more in an investment round. The funding came from Technology Crossover Ventures and Bannekar Partners. According to IQMS, the new funding brings its total raised over the past year to $75M. Virtium Gets Growth Investment For Solid State Drives
Rancho Santa Margarita-based Virtium, a developer of embedded and industrial solid state drives (SSDs), said today that it has scored a round of growth investment. Size of the funding was not announced. The funding came from L Squared Capital Partners. Virtium, which is led by Phu Hoang, said it will use the funding to grow its application engineering and SSD firmware development team. Virtium develops its SSD and flash memory products specifically for use in embedded, industrial products.

Pledgeling Names CEO
Los Angeles-based Pledgeling, which operates an online service to help users make micro- and impulse donations to charities, has named local startup veteran James Citron as CEO. Pledgeling said that Citron replaces CEO and Founder Matt Minnis, who becomes Chairman of the Board. Citron was previously CEO of mobile messaging and marketing firm Outspoken, and prior to that, was CEO and founder of Mogreet, which was acquired in 2013.
