Tinder Ranks Hottest College Campuses Via Right Swipe
Wonder where the most right-swiped men and women are on campus? Los Angeles-based Tinder said Wednesday that it has tallied up the number of swipes for college campuses around the U.S., ranking the top 50 campuses based on the number of right swipes. The mobile app developer--which has radically changed the way people find a hot date--uses "right swipe" to indicate people on the app that users would like to go out with. BCG Digital Ventures Sets Up Shop In Manhattan Beach
BCG Digital Ventures, a venture investment and incubation company, said today that it has opened up a new headquarters in Manhattan Beach, which it also hopes to share with startups it is incubating. The company says its global Innovation and Investment Center in Manhattan Beach is housed in The Manhattan Towers on the PCH. WiSilica Aims At Internet Of Things
A new, Aliso Viejo-based startup, WiSilica, said today that it has launched the company out of stealth mode, to take advantage of the Internet of Things. WiSilica said it is developing technology which will allow users to configure smart homes, buildings, lighting, sensors and wearables, creating intelligent devices that can be managed both by mobile apps and through the cloud. ReShape Medical Raises $38M For Weight Loss Medical Device
San Clemente-based ReShape Medical, which develops a non-surgical, weight loss device, said today that it has raised $38M in a Series D funding round. The funding was led by HealthCor Partners Management, L.P., and also included Endeavor Vision SA, SV Life Sciences, New Leaf Venture Partners, U.S. Venture Partners and Venture Investors. HelloTech Nears $10M Round, Says Report
Los Angeles-based HelloTech, the in-home, information technology support service led by Richard Wolpert, is close to closing a $10M, Series A funding round, according to reports. The funding is reportedly led by Madrona Venture Group. HelloTech taps into a distributed network of college students, who provide in-home, tech support--mostly to boomers and older adults. Insteon Rolls Out At Fry's
Irvine-based home automation products developer Insteon says it has rolled out its products at Fry's Electronics, and will soon be at all 34 of Fry's locations. Insteon--which makes home automation and control products--said more than 25 different Insteon products will be available across Fry's locations in Arizona, California, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Nevada, Oregon, Texas and Washington. Qualcomm Sells UK Spectrum To Vodafone, H3G
San Diego-based Qualcomm announced this morning that it has sold a segment of spectrum it owns in the UK, to Vodafone and H3G. According to Qualcomm, its Qualcomm UK Spectrum (QUKS) subsidiary has agreed to sell its UK L-Band sepectrum (1452 - 1492 Mhz) in two, separate transactions. Financial details of the spectrum sale were not announced. The spectrum is allocated for helping mobile network operators handle mobile data traffic. Qualcomm said it was advised by Akira Partners LLP in the sale.

Evolve Media Snags Say Media Executive
Los Angeles-based Evolve Media, the online publishing and media firm behind CraveOnline and TotallyHer, said Tuesday that it has named Jennifer Catto as its new SVP of Integrated Media.
