EvoNexus Deadline Approaches Monday
San Diego-based startup incubator EvoNexus said Friday that the deadline for its Fall startup class is Monday. Yuneec Gets $60M From Intel
Yuneec Holdings, the Chinese robotic drone maker which runs its U.S. operations out of Ontario, California, has received $60M in an investment round from Intel, Intel announced this week. Yuneec--which makes the Typhoon Q500 Quadcopter--runs is sales, marketing, and other operations in Ontario, which is in the Inland Empire just east of Los Angeles. The investment by Intel also includes an effort to use Intel's chips in future, Yuneec drones, as well as other collaborative product development.

Siemer Summit 2015 Announced, Tim Draper To Keynote
The Siemer Summit, the invite-only conference which has been organized by technology investment banking firm Siemer & Associates for the last four years, is returning this year, according to the firm. Netflix Expands In Hollywood
Internet video streaming and rental service Netflix is in a major expansion in Hollywood, and has signed a lease of 200,052 square feet on the Sunset Corridor, the company said Thursday. According to Netflix and Hudson Pacific Properties, Netflix will lease a significant portion of the ICON office tower at Sunset Bronson Studios, as part of a growth and content creation expansion here. Amgen Gets Approval On New Cholesterol Drug
Thousand Oaks-based biopharmaceuticals developer Amgen said Thursday that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved its new, cholesterol lowering drug, Repatha. The medication is being aimed at patients with high LDL-C "bad" cholesterol. The medication works by inhibiting the production of a protein, convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9), which reduces the ability of the liver to remove bad LDL cholesterol from the blood. Coding School Operator Origin Code Academy Launches In San Diego
A new, software coding school operator, Origin Code Academy, said this week that it has launched efforts in San Diego--and says it guarantees its graduates will get a tech job within 90 days of graduation. NantKwest Gets $1M Grant For Cancer Research Effort
Los Angeles-based cancer treatment developer NantKwest said this week that it has received $1M n an award, from the Prostate Cancer Foundation, to study the company's therapy as a novel therapeutic approach in advanced prostate cancer. UCI Rolls Out Big Data Program
UC Irvine is jumping onto the big data bandwagon, saying this week that it has launched a new, online course specifically aimed at helping individuals learn all about big data.
