SpaceX Only Bidder In Air Force Launch Contract
Hawthorne, California-based SpaceX, the commercial spacecraft and rocket developer led by Elon Musk, looks to be the only bidder in a U.S. Air Force contract, to send a next generation GPS satellite into space. The move comes as competitor United Launch Alliance (ULA) declined to put in a bid, as a result of being unable to use a Russian built RD-180 engine as part of the bid. ScoreBig Names New Marketing VP
Los Angeles-based ScoreBig, which helps connect consumers with live entertainment tickets and venues, said this morning that it has named Scott MacDonell as the company's new Senior Vice President of Marketing. MacDonell was previously at agency Oxford Road, serving clients like BlueApron.com and ZipRecruiter. MacDonell was the VP of Marketing at LegalZoom for 10 years. United Online Gets Unsolicited Acquisition Offer From B.Riley
Woodland Hills-based United Online said this morning that it has received an unsolicited, takeover offer from Los Angeles-based B. Riley. In a letter to United Online's management, which was filed with the SEC, B. Riley said it now owns 7.9% of the outstanding shares of United Online, and is proposing to pay $12.50 per share for the remaining shares of United Online. B. Numecent Finds $15.5M More
Irvine-based virtualization software provider Numecent disclosed this morning that it has raised $15.5M in a Series B funding round. The funding was led by Deutsche Telekom. Numescent, which was founded by Osman Kent, developers software which helps turn Windows applications into cloud-based applications.

OpticalLock Announces Connected Lock Product
San Diego-based OpticalLock has announced a new smart, connected padlock, aimed at the shipping industry, which includes real-time wireless tracking and tamper detection features. According to the new startup, the company's product combines high tech features with a traditional, padlock form factor, to help improve the security of containers and facilities. The company has yet to release its products, saying that the product is currently in testing. OpticalLock is led by Carol Fuller.

DTS Links With Ultra HD Blu-Ray Tool Developer
Calabasas-based DTS, the developer of surround sound and other sound processing technology, said today taht it has linked with Ultra HD Blu-Ray production tool developer Jargon Technologies, to include the DTS:X Encoder and DTS BD Digital Bridge Tool Suite with Jargon's Blu-Ray and Ultra HD Blu-ray authoring software. Financial details of the link were not announced. Jargon Technologies makes the Indigo Ultra Authoring System.
