RadPad Tallies Up $40M In Rent Payments, Teams With Mastercard
Los Angeles-based RadPad, the mobile rental marketplace startup led by Jonathan Eppers, says it processed $40M in mobile credit and debit rent payments in 2015, and has inked a deal with MasterCard. The company, backed by Altpoint Ventures and Goldcrest Investments, said that MasterCard is giving its customers a low 1.99 percent processing fee--rather than a higher, 3.49 percent fee for other cards--if they use their card with RadPad. SPARQL City Acquired by Cambridge Semantics
San Diego-based SPARQL City, which develops big data analytics software, has been acquired by Boston-based Cambridge Semantics. Financial terms of the intellectual property deal was not announced. Cambridge Semantics said it has hired former CEO and founder Barry Zane, as well as other executives from SPARQL City. Zane previously served at Applix, Netezza, and ParAccel.

Startup Behind LAX Marriott's Robotic Butler Gets $15M From Intel, Google
The startup, which is behind the "robotic butler" that has been roaming the halls of the Marriott Los Angeles LAX/Century Boulevard has just scored $15M in a funding round, which includes Intel and Google. According to Savioke, a robotics startup which develops a robot aimed at the hospitality industry, it has just raised $15M in a Series A, which came from Intel Capital, EDBI, Northern Light Venture Capital, Morado Venture Partners, AME Cloud Ventures, and Google Ventures. FastPay Tops $1 Billion In Loans
Los Angeles-based FastPay, the online lending startup led by Jed Simon, says that it has just topped $1 billion in cumulative loan volume. The company--which helps online publishers gain access to funds faster than the usual payment times for online advertising--said the volume of its loans has increased due to increase in digital ad spending. FastPay's customers use the company to manage their cash flow better, as most online ad networks and advertisers have very long accounts payable times.

TouchCommerce Gets Major Win At AT&T
Agoura Hills-based TouchCommerce, the online chat provider led by Bernard Louvat, has scored a major win, and has replaced LivePerson at AT&T. AT&T said this week that it had replaced its 10-year old, third party chat platform with TouchCommerce, as a part of an effort to deliver better service. AT&T said it migrated to TouchCommerce in only 60 days, in an effort it said saved the company $16.5 million in fees. Compulink Buys Eyecom
Thousand Oaks-based Compulink Business Systems, a developer of electronic health records and practice management software, announced this morning that it has acquired Eyecom, a fellow developer of practice management software for the optometry market. Mitu Raises $27M For Latino Digital Media
Santa Monica-based digital media firm mitu, which focuses on the Latino youth market, is announcing this morning that it has raised $27M in a Series C funding. mitu, which is led by Roy Burstin, said the new round includes AwesomenesssTV, WPP Digital, and Verizon, along with existing investor Upfront Ventures. mitu said the new round brings its total raised to $43M. mitu says it now has a network of more than 2 billion, and 6,000 Latino creators offering up social media feeds on YouTube, Faceboo (More info...)

Qualcomm, TDK Launch $3 Billion Joint Venture
San Diego-based Qualcomm and Tokyo-based TDK Corporation said very late last night that the two companies are forming a new, joint venture--RF360 Holdings Singapore PTE. TYT Network Names Fullscreen Vet As VP
Los Angeles-based TYT Network has hired on BuzzFeed and Fullscreen veteran Chris Puckett as its new Vice President of Advertising & Brand Partnerships, the company said Tuesday. Puckett joins the company from Fullscreen, where he had been serving as East Coast Director of Brand Partnerships and Sales. He also had served at BuzzzFeed. Ixia Ships 50 Gigabit Ethernet Module
Calabasas-based Ixia said today that it has launched a new set of 50GbE modules, which will allow its customers to test 50Gb Ethernet equipment. Ixia--which already has 10, 25, 40, and 100GbE modules for the market--said its product is the first, Gigabit Ethernet validation product for 50GbE. Ixia says it is part of the 25G/50G Ethernet Consortium.
