SpaceX Wins New NASA Contract For ISS Deliveries
NASA said Thursday afternoon that it has awarded Hawthorne-based SpaceX one of three awards to deliver cargo to the International Space Station (ISS), as part of a continuation of its efforts to move to commercial rocket launch providers. NASA said the Commercial Resupply Services (CRS-2) contracts cover deliveries to the ISS from 2019 through 2024. AdRev Acquired By Zealot Networks
Studio City-based AdRev, the digital rights management startup that also operates AudioMicro, has been acquired by Zealot Networks, according to AdRev founder Ryan Born. Financial terms of the acquisition were not announced. Zealot Networks already owned a majority of AdRev, having acquired that stake in 2014 for $20M. MindTouch Picks Up $12M For Customer Self Service Software
San Diego-based MindTouch, a developer of software-as-a-service tools to help companies create self-service, customer support sites, has raised $12M in a Series A funding. The funding came from PeakSpan Capital, along with SK Ventures and SAP SE. Los Angeles-based J2 Global, the Internet services provider and publisher, has gobbled up four more companies, as it continues to have a ravenous appetite for acquisitions. Prolacta Names Chief Medical Officer
City of Industry-based Prolacta Bioscience, the venture-backed company which takes and processes human milk to help premature infants, has named Victoria Niklas, M.D. as its new Chief Medical and Scientific Officer. Niklas was most recently Director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Newborn Services at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center and a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Ambry Genetics Rolls Out Free Cloud Software
Aliso Viejo-based Ambry Genetics, a provider of genetic diagnostics software, said today that it has launched a new, free cloud software service called Progeny Cloud. The company said the new software, which is aimed at medical practices and other institutions, will allow those companies to manage their patient pedigrees and family history data, for free. The company said the software is a version of its genetic pedigree and clinical data management software, Progeny Clinical.
