March Capital Backs VeloCloud In Series C Funding
Santa Monica-based venture capital investor March Capital Partners is the lead investor in a developer of cloud networking technology, VeloCloud Networks, as part of a new $27M funding round for that company. VeloCloud, which is based in Silicon Valley, said the new Series C funding was led by March Capital Partners, and also included Cisco Investments, New Enterprise Associates, and Venrock. Bourns Buys Business From Murata
Riverside, California-based electronics components manufacturer Bourns has acquired the trimming potentiometer business of Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd., the two said Friday. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed. Bourns said it acquired specific assets of that business, with transfer of those assets to begin in early 2016. Unmute Picks Up $2.2M In Seed Funding
Los Angeles-based Unmute, which develops mobile apps to let people share and interact in live phone calls, has raised $2.2M in a seed funding, the company said Friday. The funding came from Greycroft Partners, and also included Comcast Ventures, Crosscut Ventures, Betaworks, as well as the NBA's David Stern and Robert Kirkman of "The Walking Dead". Mojave-based Virgin Galactic, the commercial spaceflight and tourism venture of Sir Richard Branson, may not be able to deliver you to space just quite yet. SCE Plans EV Charger Rebates, Big EV Charger Install Push
Southern California Edison is planning a big electric vehicle charging station push here in Southern California, saying it plans to install as many as 1,500 new electric vehicle charging stations in its service territory, and offer up rebates to users who install them. Santa Monica-based TigerText, the provider of secure messaging apps which are heavily used by the healthcare industry, has launched two new features aimed at bringing hospitals into the modern age. Guidance Software Shuffles Executives
Pasadena-based Guidance Sofdtware, the developer of computer forensics and security software, said it has undergone a restructuring of its sales, training, channel and product development efforts. As part of the shuffle, the company said that its Chief Revenue OFficer, Jay Ackerman, and its Chief Technology Officer, Shawn McCreight, have both "separated from the company". Guidance Software also said it has named Scott Skidmore as its Vice Preisdent, Global Channel Sales.
