Newlight In Deal With IKEA For Carbon Neutral/Negative Plastics
Irvine-based Newlight Technologies, which is developing technology which captures carbon and turns it into plastic materials, has signed a deal with furniture retailer IKEA, which will see IKEA using plastics from Newlight's technology in its products. According to the two, IKEA will purchase Newlight's AirCarbon products from Newlight's production facilities, as a replacement for fossil-based plastics. Sorrento Therapeutics In South Korean Joint Venture
San Diego-based biopharmaceuticals developer Sorrento Therapeutics and South Korean pharmaceuticals firm Yuhan Corporation said today that they have formed a new joint venture, ImmuneOncia Therapeutics. The companies said that the new company will develop and commercialize a number of immune checkpoint antibodies against undisclosed targets for both hematological malignancies and solid tumors. Qualcomm Pays $7.5M To Settle SEC Investigation Over Chinese Bribery
San Diego-based Qualcomm reports that it has paid $7.5M to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), relating to a Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) investigation by the agency, which had been looking into whether Qualcomm gave employees of state-owned entities or government agencies in China event tickets, gifts, or paid for travel, or hired children or friends of those entities. Millennium Space Systems Names Marketing Head
El Segundo-based Millennium Space Systems, which helps to manufacture and produce satellites, said today that it has named Robert (Bob) Newberry as its Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer.
