Report: Resonant Struggling, Running Out Of Cash
Goleta-based Resonant, a developer of RF radio filters used for the smartphone and other markets, is struggling, and may run out of cash, according to a report. The report, from the Pacific Coast Business Times, says Resonant only has enough cash to support operations through the second quarter of 2016. Resonant makes surface acoustic wave (SAW) filters, used in RF filtering for cell phones; the company reported a customer in March, but no financial details of that win.

StoneCalibre Acquires Amtel
Los Angeles-based private equity investor StoneCalibre said this morning that its portfolio company, NetPlus, has acquired Santa Clara-based Amtel Inc.. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. Amtel is a developer of mobility and expense management software for the enterprise market, including software for managing mobile devices, mobile apps, and expense management, particularly for BYOD (bring your own) devices. Virgin America Adds Free Access to Lynda.com, Sets ViaSet WiFi Pricing
Virgin America said this morning that it will be offering up free access to Lynda.com, the professional learning and content site run out of Goleta--and now owned by LinkedIn--as part of a wide rollout of high speed, Wi-Fi access from Carlsbad-based ViaSat. SpaceX Dragon Successfully Arrives At ISS
The SpaceX Dragon spacecraft has successfully mated to the International Space Station's Harmony module on Sunday, at 9:57 a.m. EDT, after a successful launch into space of the SpaceX Falcon 9 on Friday. According to NASA, the Dragon is delivering around 7,000 pounds of material for science and research investigations for its Expedition 47 mission, including a new, inflatable activity module from Bigelow Aerospace. Vizzario Gets $2M From VSP For Vision Tracking Technology
Los Angeles-based Vizzario, a startup developing eye tracking technology to help monitor eye health and vision, has score $2M from eye care insurance giant VSP Global, VSP said this morning. According to VSP, it made the investment in Vizzario, to help that company develop eye care technologies to track visual acuity, eye strain, traumatic brain injury, and sports vision performance. Velocify Rolls Out New Sales Prospecting Tool
Los Angeles-based Velocify, the developer of leads management and sales software, has rolled out a new tool call SalesCaddy. According to Velocify, the new tool uses social and professional networks to help its users discover and convert potential buyers. Velocify said the tool includes two features--implemented as browser plugins--SocialCaddy and MailCaddy. Boingo Wireless Target Of Activist Investor
Los Angeles-based Boingo Wireless, the operator of Wi-Fi networking and small cell site antenna systems, is the target of activist investor Ides Capital, which said last week that it is looking to nominate two directors to Boingo's board. Newegg Launches New Program For Marketplace Sellers
Los Angeles-based NewEgg announced a new program today, aimed at its third party marketplace sellers. According to NewEgg, its NewEgg Premier Seller Program includes increased product exposure, enhanced product lists, a "Premier" badge, and other benefits, and can only be applied for by the company's most trusted sellers with the best customer satisfaction ratings.
