Giftagram Raises $3.2M For Mobile Gifting
Los Angeles- and Toronto-based Giftagram, which develops mobile gifting apps, said today that it has raised $3.2M in a venture funding round, from a long list of angel investors. The company--which is led by Jason Reid--develops iOS and Android apps which let users send curated gifts to their friends and others. LA Kings Launch Social Networking App
The LA Kings have launched a new, social networking app -- powered by LA-based startup Vixlet--which is aimed at connecting fans of the hockey team with each other, the team said Monday. According to the LA Kings and AEG, the new app--LA Kings Fans, runs on iOS or Android, and lets users view official content from the team, connect with other fans, see photos and videos from the Kings, and more. Terms of the deal between the LA Kings and Vixlet were not announced by the companies.

Zeevo Group Eyes LA Office, Aircraft Leasing
Zeevo Group, a new startup aiming at providing operations support to the aircraft leasing industry, has launched, and is looking at LA as one of its first locations. The startup--started by former executives from LA's International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC), said it will provide IT and finance consulting for companies in the aircraft leasing industry. Avery Dennison Jumps Into Internet Of Things With Clothing Deal
Pasadena-based Avery Dennison--best known for its paper products, labels, and packaging--is jumping into the Internet of Things, with a big deal to place "Internet-of-Things" sensors on apparel. The company said it has inked a deal with startup Evrythng, to create 10 billion pieces of apparel with built-in Internet sensors and identifiers. DoorDash, Carl's Jr. Team For Fast Food Delivery In SoCal
Have a craving for a burger from Carl's Jr.? In what might be the first, on-demand delivery service to cater to fast food fans, on-demand delivery service DoorDash and CKE Restaurant Holdings have teamed up on deliveries from Carl's Jr in Southern California. Los Angeles-based GoodLooks, a new startup focused on connecting people with "lifestyle experts", said it has launched a new online marketplace to find career and life coaches, personal trainers, fashion stylists and dietitians. According to the startup, it was created to help "successful people" look, feel, and be their best. Biocom Opens LA Office
Life sciences industry organization Biocom, which has been helping to represent Southern Califronia's life science industry for more than 20 years, says it has set up a Los Angeles office, to better help promote the success of LA in the life sciences industry. Biocom has appointed Dina Lozofsky as Executive Director of the new office. Western Digital Rolls Out New Datacenter Drives
Irvine-based disk drive manufacturer Western Digital has rolled out a new set of products, specifically aimed at data centers, which it says have much better performance, high capacity, and enhanced reliability. Western Digital said its new WD Gold data center hard drives have capacities of up to 8TB, which have reliability ratings of 2.5 million hours MTBF, much better performance than previous generations of its drives, and also 24/7 premium tech support. Semtech Gets Design Win In Korea
Camarillo-based Semtech reported a design win with its 12G UHD-SDI products, as part of a UHDTV Broadast Encoder with DS Broadcast. Shipping volumes and financial impact of the win was not announced. Semtech said that DS Broadcast is using its 12G UHDSDI Gearbox, retiming equalizer, retiming cable driver and 3G long-reach equalizer in its design. DS Broadcast's products are currently being used in South Korea as part of UHDTV broadcast trials.
