cloudvirga Finds $7.5M For Mortgage Automation
Irvine-based cloudvirga, a startup developing mortgage automation tools, announced Thursday that it has raised $7.5M in a Series A funding. The funding was led by Dallas Capital, and also included Upfront Ventures and Tribeca Angels. The startup, led by Bill Dallas, says it digitizes many of the steps needed to close mortgage loans. The startup's founders as Bill Dallas, Kyle Kamrooz, and Mark Attaway.

Verdezyne Names New CFO
Carlsbad-based synthetic chemistry technology developer Verdezyne said this week that it has named David Kelsey as its new Chief Financial Officer. Kelsey was previously CFO of Elevance Renewable Sciences, and also served at Sealed Air, General Electric, and GE Capital. He also serves on the board of Granite Construction. SmartDrive Systems Claims Record Growth
San Diego-based SmartDrive Systems, which develops video-based, driver monitoring systems, announced today that it had record growth in its second quarter and first half of 2016. The company did not disclose any financials, but said it saw nearly 200% growth in the first half of the year compared to the same period in 2015. Upfront's Suster Backs Density
Mark Suster of Upfront Ventures is the lead investor in a new startup, developing hardware devices to count people and track their movement in a room. According to Suster, he led a $4M funding round in Density, a developer of devices which use computer vision to help count the number of people in room or passing through a doorway. The funding round also included Jason Calacanis and Jonathan Triest of Ludlow Ventures. Density is based in San Francisco.

Infinite RF Holdings Buys L-Com Global Connectivity
Irvine-based Infinite RF Holdings, a developer of radio frequency (RF) technology and components, has acquired cable assembly, connector, and wireless networking equipment maker L-Com Global Connectivity, according to Genstar Capital, the private equity company which acquired Infinite RF Holdings in May. Ixia Expands Distribution Channel
Calabasas-based network testing equipment and software developer Ixia says it has reached a new distribution deal, with Arrow Electronics, to distribute its line of products in North America. According to Ixia, Arrow will distribute its full portfolio of solutions in North America. Arrow is one of the largest global electronic distributors, with 18,500 employees, and representing more than 100,000 OEMs and others.
