Aurrion Acquired by Juniper Networks
Goleta-based Aurrion, a developer of networking semiconductor technology which was spun out of UC Santa Barbara, has been acquired by Juniper Networks, according to Juniper's blog. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Juniper said that Aurrion has developed breakthrough technology in the silicon-photonics area, saying that the startup's technology will help it reduce the cost of the optoelectronic portion of its circuits, helping to match the cost reductions it has been able to (More info...)

Organovo Names CFO
San Diego-based Organovo, which is developing 3D bioprinting technology, said on Tuesday that it has named Craig Kussman as the company's Chief Financial Officer. Kussman was most recently CFO of Alphaeon Corporation, and also served at XIFIN, Ascenta Therapeutics, as well as Breach Security, Discovery Partners International, Inc., SYNAVANT Inc., Cognizant Corp., and IMS Health. Organovo is publicly traded on the NYSE as ONVO.

GenRocket Ties With UST Global On Software Testing
Ojai-based software testing developer GenRocket, and digital services provider UST Global, which is based in Irvine, announced Tuesday that the two are in a new partnership, where UST Global will tap GenRocket's technology for automating the generation of test code and test data. Financial details of the partnership were not disclosed. UST Global said the move will help it provision test data for projects early in the software development life cycle for its clients. Virgin Galactic Gets FAA Approval For Flight Testing
Mojave-based Virgin Galactic is taking another step forward, saying on Monday that it has received FAA approval to flight tests on its new SpaceShipTwo vehicle. Virgin Galactic said it received the operator license for SpaceShipTwo from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration's Office of Commercial Space Transportation (FAA-AST). StatRad Snags $13M
San Diego-based StatRad, a provider of tele-radiology services, has raised $13M in a funding round, the company announced this morning. Name of the strategic, institutional investor was not announced. StatRad offers up a cloud-based service, which both provides the services of remote radiologists, as well as storage of medical imaging. The company is led by CEO Vishal Verma. The company said the funding goes towards development of its cloud-based medical image sharing technology.

Gipper Launches Sports Video App
Los Angeles-based Gipper Media--a new app inspired by a high school entrepreneurship project--has launched, with the backing of Pandora co-founder and SoCal technology vet Jon Kraft and former Stamps.com Chief Software Architect Girish Venkat. Los Angeles-based digital restaurant ordering software developer Tillster, led by Perse Faily, is powering the new mobile app for Baskins-Robbins, the companies said on Monday. TP-Link To Pay $200,000 To FCC Over Router Violations
San Dimas-based wireless equipment maker TP-Link, which develops wireless routers and switches, has agreed to pay $200,000 to the FCC, for allowing its users to run their Wi-Fi radios and routers at higher levels than allowed by the FCC. According to the FCC, TP-Link has also agreed to let third party firmware run on its hardware--while still obeying those FCC power limits. Western Digital Bumps Data Center Drive Capacity To 10TB
Irvine-based Western Digital said this morning that it has bumped the capacity of its line of "WD Gold" data center hard drives by 25 percent, to 10 terabytes, as it continues to push the storage capacity of its hard drive line. WD said the 25 percent increase over its former, 8TB capacity for the drives also includes a reduction in power usage, by 8 percent, and 21 percent better sequential performance improvement. RealD Wins Giant Install Deal In China
Los Angeles-based 3D movie projection technology developer RealD is reporting this morning that it has signed its largest, ever, 3D installation agreement ever, in China, with Wanda Cinema Line Corporation. According to RealD, Wanda has committed to install its 3D technology on a total of 5,600 screens throughout China. Financial impact of the deal were not disclosed. Wanda already has 1,600 screens with RealD's technology installed, and plans to install 4,000 new screens over the next four year (More info...)
